Those rumours again

You know those rumours about missing DW episodes that just won't quite die? They've returned again and this time various sources are claiming that tomorrow the BBC are going to announce missing Patrick Troughton stories to be available digitally this week. (And that there may also be more found.)

At least this time, there's a deadline. We don't hear anything tomorrow, obviously it's just more rumour-mongering, but if we do...

*tries very hard not to think about that and get my hopes up for no reason*

ETA: Of course, now they're saying "end of the week" instead... *eyes rumours darkly*

Exasperating, isn't it! I couldn't resist looking at Ian Levine's Twitter account yesterday, and he was up and down like a yo-yo. Watching him swearing it's true, then swearing it isn't, is almost more fun than the possibility of new episodes. ;)

Some more Troughton would be great, wouldn't it. I do prefer Hartnell (especially the Ian and Barbara era), but poor old Trout got hit so hard by the deletions. It would be nice to think that a bit more of his work had been recovered. I remember, so many years ago, being given the Target novelisation of "Fury From The Deep", and loving it to pieces. Finding out that it was missing some years later really stung! It would be so nice to have something more from that era...

It keeps getting very hard to ignore it and, exactly, it's one of those things it's too cruel to hope might be true if it isn't, so... if the BBC have something, can't they stop the nonsense and say they have something? If they want to preserve mystery and not say what it is or how much, I don't care. But why they think making us worry about it all year is a nice anniversary present, I don't know.

Or maybe it was specifically meant for you, so you could get enjoyment from Ian Levine's Twitter?

Anyway, let's try not to hope too hard and cross our fingers that there's at least five lost minutes returned for all of this.

If rumour is to be believed, it's the missing bits of "Enemy Of The World" and "Web Of Fear". The latter would be especially nice, I must say, since it's the Brig's first appearance (still a Colonel then of course!). And sort of Benton's first appearance, although he was being a Yeti then, which is a bit anti-social.

Still, we'll have to wait and see...

The rumour going round seems to be that plus at least one Hartnell episode. But I think for now, I shall tell myself it is one episode of something hated by all and avoid any disappointment.

I shall now go distract myself with Yuletide - that should do it. :-)
