An icon batch I was waiting to post until I'd done the latest [community profile] retro_icontest challenge, and then nearly forgot about! Most of these have probably been posted here before, although not the [community profile] retro_icontest The7Days challenge to icon seven different angles from the last seven things you watched. The angles were above, below, left, right, back, front, artist's choice. Plus, all the icons I made recently to complete [community profile] 100fandomicons and [community profile] retro_icontest's Island Rumble round, making icons from the same two screencaps & some alts.

I started this on 27th Feb 2021 for [community profile] 100fandomicons and have finally completed it, after taking longer than anybody else ever has, which I suppose is one claim to fame. (You can see the fandoms if you hover over the icons.)

Day 4 was to set goals and since I have decided that it is very important for me to have a goal of not having goals for the moment, that's a wash. I suppose I could vow to re-upload some more icons that PhotoBucket ate in one of its tantrums. That would be good.

In your own space, promote a canon/talk about a part of canon that you love. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I was determined this time to do something less obscure but canons I have been thinking about and having feelings for especially at the moment are The Power Game, The Shadow of the Tower and Department S, so no hope of that.

Cut for some blathering but mainly 1960s gifs of the gorgeous Barbara Murray and colour ITC adventurers )

Thank you for writing for me! This letter is bound to be long, so tl;dr: I love all kinds of different things at different times, I love these fandoms, and I'm sure to enjoy whatever you come up with.

Any prompts are intended purely for inspiration, not to restrict your choices. Take what's useful and leave what isn't. I hope you have a lovely Yuletide.

That said, here is the long version...

Life continues to be scary, so I am doing what surely any rational person would do and hiding away here, writing my [community profile] hurtcomfortex letter (so many freeforms!) and making James Maxwell gifs.

I am trying to improve my gifmaking skills on the website, but all I learn is the website makes its own rules and will do completely different things with each different gif, although I am definitely getting a little bit better at knowing how many pics/what speed to do the ones from screencaps). It is frustrating, though - if I could do it on my editing programme, I could make them so much prettier!

Also you know that Obi-Wan/Padme gif I made from the RotS extras, that wasn't even that good? I posted them on tumblr as well, because I thought I might as well, and now it's at 2000+ notes and hasn't stopped yet. It's very weird. If I had 2000+ repsonses to a Dreamwidth post I'd be collapsed somewhere, but on tumblr, it's all very impersonal and has nothing to do with me whatsoever. It just sort of... goes on regardless, and indeed, would if I wasn't even there any more. (Up till now the best I had was Peter Cushing gifs which picked up c. 200-300 notes.) Anyway, so if you post any old Obidala gif, tumblr likes it. Or possibly just if you get the ones off the extra bit off the DVD.

Oh, and, in cheerful things - I have a [community profile] space_swap gift already! I feel like I'm slacking now, although mine has progressed to a mental plan and notes and rewatching and I mean to get actual words down tomorrow.

Anyway, have an incomplete gifology of 1960s James Maxwell, plus one Suzanne Neve, because it included Portrait of a Lady and I couldn't not.

I'm tired, so I turned to the Unconventional Courtship Generator to amuse me and had to share again. I'm sorry, but I mean, you want to know all about that time Tegan had to edit the Fourth Doctor's epic erotic novel, surely . . .

Some random icons and mini-sets I've made recently or found lurking on my hard drive. Margaret Lockwood, quotes, some random old TV peoples, and Once Upon A Time.

I've had a few answers for this meme done or semi-done for a while, so it's about time I posted one, and here goes - From [livejournal.com profile] femme_slash_fan: Favourite TV shows almost nobody knows about and should watch? (Seriously... I need more stuff)

Shows that nobody else knows about seems to sum up my entire fannish life of late (and always, really), but since [livejournal.com profile] femme_slash_fan specified "and should watch", that's a whole other thing. I have plenty of strange things I love - I don't necessarily think anyone else should have to watch them!

I avoided anything with its own (reasonably active) fandom, like Blake's 7, Sapphire & Steel and The Avengers (obviously, people have heard of them, if they're being fannish about them), and anything I thought was too inaccessible to count as something people should watch. What counts as something 'nobody's heard of' is so relative anyway. (Some of these things really don't count if you're British but do count if you live anywhere else. What can I do?). Of course, much of it assumes some willingness to watch studio-bound, video-taped old British TV of some kind, which I know not everyone is up for. If you are, or you're willing to try, these aren't bad places to start.

Anyway, here's a list! Not in any particular order, really. (I numbered them so I would know to stop if I went over ten, because that would be silly.)

Under here for the list!! )

I have been a bit AWOL, but for reasons and also now I have a vid! And, all right, so it is a vid of James Maxwell, BUT it is totally a vid containing cute children and animals, paper aeroplanes, stuffed toys, random barometers, wilful destruction of property, Emma Peel kicking ass, vampires, tea and coffee drinking, two Henry VIIs, rocks, Nazis, space ships, and an actual kitchen sink. Also epic hand-holding (but not anything like as much as there could have been).

Cut for Embed )

And, at some point, I will catch up with other stuff a bit. (♥)

Through this week I rapidly approached (and have now passed) the Awefull moment where I would finish The Power Game and not have anything else to watch where people are likely to accuse one another of clinging on like a neurotic limpet with a peeping tom complex. Naturally, I pulled out my 500 Prompts list to find the one Persiflage had so kindly left for just such an occasion. Me: "Hmm, betrayal, that could fit everyone..." *writes five times fic that is a series of (hopefully not too) incomprehensible conversations* What can I say? Sadly, the sarcasm is lagging a long way behind the show.

In other news, I managed to get a solitary blue and white bran flake in my pack of otherwise-normal Bran Flakes this week. I get the white frosting, but I didn't think we had blue breakfast cereal in the UK. Where did the blue come from? Is it an alien plot?
