A new meme about fic

Memed from [personal profile] nostalgia: Tell the world one (1) fact/anecdote/secret/etc about each of the last ten (or whatever) things you wrote.

(I had to decide whether or not to include meme ficlets for this, but since the whole point of meme flash fic is writing fast rather than thinking too hard, I can't say there would be much to tell, so I will count fic (of whatever length) but not flash fic, unless I do have something to say about them.)

Although I think that mostly when I had something to say, I already said it, so this may or may not be terribly revealing!

1. Lost Luggage (OUaT) I said this before to some people, but this one sat in my notebook for ages until I found it again, and it wasn't until after I'd typed it up that I remembered why - which was that I needed to check exactly when Henry twigged who Mr Gold was in the Enchanted Forest. I tried looking on the wiki, but it didn't answer and I was too impatient to wait till I could do more of a rewatch. /handwaves hard.

2. Inner Demons (Dracula 1968)

The next three were all [community profile] chocolateboxcomm gifts for [personal profile] calliopes_pen!

This one probably sat in a different notebook for even longer than Lost Luggage, as I originally intended it for Yuletide 2020 (when I was also assigned to [personal profile] calliopes_pen). It was originally one part of a planned Five Times Jonathan Got Possessed Fic, but I got ill and it got long enough that I didn't think I could make it, so [personal profile] calliopes_pen got a rewritten version of the last time from the set.

It is set in Bridlington rather than Whitby because of the supposed Wold Newton Triangle, which seemed like a good premise for supernatural activity in Yorkshire. One day I will get the Wold Newton Triangle into a Dracula 1968 fic! So, that's a secret, I suppose.

3. Morning Prayer (Dracula 1968)

Confession: Mina's accidental destruction of a certain Count while in highly unconvincing 1960s TV bat form was originally slightly more bloody and then I noticed [personal profile] calliopes_pen's DNW for animal harm, and thought I had better be a bit more careful, even if it wasn't an actual animal, just a vampire in disguise. It was a very easy change, and therefore probably as well! You can have accidental happy AUs without any, er, squishing.

4. To Catch a Spider (Dracula 1968)

Hmm. This came out pretty much as is from the start, and I didn't leave it in a notebook for years, either. Well, I'd been wanting to look at Drac 1968's rather colder Van Helsing than most for a while, so I was glad to get [personal profile] calliopes_pen's request as an excellent excuse! (I'm not sure that's quite a secret or anecdote, but it is a fact, so there.)

5. Started As A Whisper (S&S)

This one also was pretty much as is. I was worried it would come out too similar to One Night Stand, but I think it wasn't in the end.

6. Chance Is A Fine Thing (Heyer)

I said this before as well, but Part Three originally had NOTHING HAPPEN in it. I was there, smug with my first draft, came to type it up and then was 0_o in alarm. The rewritten Part Three seems to have been everyone's favourite bit, so desperation wins again! Why is that so often the case? lol.

7. Bleeding Out (DW)

This fic is not really either a sequel or companion piece to A Rough Sketch in Black and White, which was a crossover meme fic from the first round, with Turlough meeting Charlotte Collins, but the existence of that always implied that Tegan and Five were somewhere having an adventure in Regency times, and that is why that was my first thought of a setting for Bleeding Out. It sort of happened at last.

8. Old Haunts (Vampire Circus)

I still don't know what I thought about Vampire Circus, but have a random fic that I wrote as an exercise? This pairing intrigued me anyway, I think.

9. cover you in moonlight (DW)

I wrote this for [community profile] 100ships, as an excuse to finally write some kind of Eleven/Clara, which I've fancied doing for ages. I rewatched my way through S7b and had a lovely time and was feeling very shippy for them, because they really are, but I had this idea for post "The Name of the Doctor" and forgot how much River was in it, and that nearly destroyed all my shipping entirely. She is a great big gooseberry. In that particular context at least. I had to sort of mentally jump up and down and rewatch the end of "Nightmare in Silver" to actually do it.

10. Sending Out an SOS to the World (WtoVPIC/multi crossover)

I started writing this in my head about one episode into Welcome to Our Village Please Invade Carefully. If I truly love something, I'll write a crossover. It is how I show my love, however inadvisable.

Since I'm not sure that counts - also I rewrote the Margaret and Crowley meeting so many times in rough and typed up. This was last August now, so I'm trying to remember why and what was different, but I think I was going back and forth on how Margaret would bribe Crowley and/or whether or not Crowley would oblige, and I don't know if I was ever quite as happy with it. (This is the part most people commented on as the best part, though, so I must have got there in the end!)
