It actually made sense to me that an Australian might use "Rabbits!" as a swear word, even if it wasn't a traditional one, because they've been known to get plagues of rabbits in drought conditions. I remember once, as a little kid, seeing a photograph of thousands of rabbits invading one location in Australia, yikes. It made something of an impression on me, and I'd probably curse if I saw it IRL, LOL.
