That led me off on a tangent, wondering how closely companions' names are tied to them without the generator. Would it have felt right if the brainbox had been called Jo Grant and the bubbly blonde Liz Shaw?

In respect of that generator, it may have made a couple of lucky hits with UNIT-era companions, but it doesn't do Jamie's Angels any favours. Poor, poor Gia Kelly :-)
