Via el_staplador, a new friend via the friending meme (*waves*), a new-to-me writing meme, and one that involves less work than usual. How could I resist?


Comment to this post with a fic title (a word, phrase or quotation), a fandom and, if desired, a character or pairing. I'll reply with a summary of the fic I won't write for that title, in this way generating plot-bunnies, gaiety of nations and perhaps even actual fic by other people.


(If coming up with titles is hard, there's always a title generator like this one, which seems pretty comprehensive in genre choice.)

Blake is on a mission to put a stop to a radioactive robot device the Federation have brought in to completely crush the rebellion on Ilta 4. He and Cally are out to stop the robot very seriously. Meanwhile, Vila and Avon are breaking into an Ancient Transport & Tourism museum because Orac is sure it's actually the hiding place for a smuggling gang that got busted about 10 years ago and who hid their stash there. The Museum contains a plane and an Unexplained Flying Object.

(And Avon and Vila have NO IDEA how the radiative robot got on the plane or what it had to do with the creatures from the flying saucer and they WERE NOT THERE. Unless Jenna tells.)

How the victim fell from the ceiling isn't the question, it's what he was doing up there in the first place. Jonathan and Maddy investigate another devilishly complicated murder and solve it. (You notice how I get around the 'plot' bit of this thing I'm not writing. Amazing! :-D)

Young people are suddenly tearing down their idols - the beautiful and successful - and the cause seems to have something to do with the influence caused by a Hall of Mirrors. Adam calls on Simms's travelling entertainer's knowledge and intructs Georgie to stay absolutely out of the way. Obviously, she doesn't...

The Sixth Doctor's cat badge has become an actual cat magnet! Somehow Evelyn has to persuade him to take it off before the TARDIS is overrun (and Evelyn likes a cat around as much as the Time Lord next to her, but this is getting ridiculous) but the badge also seems to be having an influence over the Doctor...

The Doctor accidentally comes back a few months late to collect Tegan and Turlough from a leisure resort on a holiday planet. He uncovers a gambling scam - and it's being run by Turlough. Which doesn't explain why Tegan is in prison, but she's very annoyed with him about it...

I don't really know who/where else to ask about this, but does the phrase "spring break" mean anything to a British person? If not, what would be similarly associated with university students going somewhere warm, getting blind drunk, and doing regrettable things?

"Spring break" doesn't really mean anything like that. Going to Ibiza, maybe, or at least it would have been a typical students clubbing/drinking summer holiday destination back in the 1990s. If dw_britglish isn't active, britpickery is, and that's the same idea, but for any writers.

Ace, a Caribbean holiday, two unexpected squid-like things and a large explosion at the hotel, leaving the attractive female receptionist with nowhere to go but along for the ride with Ace. The Professor obviously had a cunning plan all along, but he's not sure where he put it and possibly it got eaten by an unexpected squid-thing.

Post-Resurrection, Tegan goes to Brighton to help leave the past behind, only to find someone all too familiar there to meet her on the Promenade. Since I'm not writing it, it all gets highly shippy but probably bittersweet. :-D

Our students still just have Easter holidays and go home, as far as I know - I mean, American visiting students take off for the continent while they're so close, and I'm sure all the richer ones go away, but it's not a cultural phenomenon.

There's plenty of going to cheap (mainly) Spanish resorts and getting blind drunk at that age, but mostly in the summer, and not as a specifically student thing.

I once went to Preston in the Easter hols, and once to Skegness. (I didn't get drunk, though.) But, yeah. Summer is the time for that kind of thing.

LOL, this sounds like a subtitle for their part in the actual series! OKay, trying not to think that:

There are giant psychic spiders on B5; G;kar is in search of enlightenment, Londo a drink (he's heard their venom packs an illegal punch) while Bester has dark plans because psychic spiders. It all ends in minor injuries, Bester slinking off, spiders trying to take over the station and a slightly smug G'kar who's found the solution after communing with the things (even if they weren't enlightening in the way he was after).

The Vinidian people have decided that Hex is their long-lost heir to the throne - and they really don't take no for an answer. It's not long before Hex has got a dangerous crown, Ace is his bodyguard and the Doctor the Royal Adviser, but between some of the weirder aspects of the monarchy and dark plots, it's proving hard to get away. (Naturally, Ace will blow stuff up before they're done.)

Ktrea is a peaceful planet, with its own Guardian, the Light. Only the Doctor knows the Ligfht is actually evil, but it's really hard to persuade everybody of that when things are about as nice and normal as they get. Worse still, River's here and she's just been arrested for profaning the temple.

One of Frank's clients can't make up their mind whether they want him to follow their husband or not; they keep sending him out and calling him off. He says he's not going to take them on again, but of course he does, because he's broke. He has also lost his FRANK mug somewhere and is trying to find it. Somebody's heart gets broken but Frank and his mug are okay.
