Oh, you must read the rest! (Assuming that you liked those two. If not, I suppose you wouldn't.) They grow to be more comedy of manners as she goes on, but then I prefer those to the earlier books (and Cotillion is wonderful!). The Talisman Ring nicely bridges the two kinds - and it's huge fun.
It isn't straight plagiarism, but there's a lot of political and military stuff hidden in the books, I'd definitely want the show to have some of that wit and style and humour (if only), and something like The Reluctant Widow actually has a French spy ring in it. :-D And they almost always have a wonderfully eccentric and formidable Dowager in them somewhere. So they might as well just dramatise The Reluctant Widow or something, really. Heh.
