Meme: The long and the short
Two memes:
One memed from
persiflage_1 where you write ORANGES! and the person gives you 5 questions, but sorry, I am going away, so i'm just going to stick to answering the qs that Pers gave me:
1 - How do you like them oranges?
2 - If you could bring back one Classic Who companion for a series of adventures with New Who folks, who would it be?
3 - Would you watch a UNIT spin-off show (provided RTD didn't write it in the vein of Torchwood)?
4 - Which are you favourite Big Finish audios?
5 - Imagine the BBC were willing to make any crossover show of your choice - which two (or more) shows would you crossover with each other?
1. Organic, otherwise I'm not really supposed to eat them. (Apparently they inject them with arsenic or something equally ridiculous, so they stay preserved. And, yes, am probably making up the arsenic bit, but you never know.)
2. *flails* Too much choice! I mean, do I do this realistically (so no one dead/too old to get away with it) or just fantasy? Leela. (Except for the whole Gallifrey issue). So Tegan. Or Turlough. Or Nyssa, just to find out what she did post-Terminus (Hey, there's an audio coming out soon I really need to listen to. Maybe it's playing on my mind.) Actually, what I would MOST like would be Benny, Evelyn and Charley to appear and be Definitely Canon at last. They are too good not to be, and Benny's been in every other format - come on, BBC (I know there may be copyright issues, but it's my fantasy).
3. Um. I don't know. Of course, if someone wanted to make a spin-off UNIT show set in the 1980s, I could probably help them out. *looks innocent*
4. This is boring of me, but they remain (so far): The One Doctor (There is nothing to compare with Bonnie Langford and Christopher Biggins putting up shelves, while the Doctor faces down Anne Robinson... and yet, despite all the fun and games, it gets at the heart of just why the Doctor is wonderful. Every single New Who episode (even this series) that's tried to do it hasn't matched this audio in pulling it off.) The Chimes of Midnight (*becomes incoherent* After all, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without plum pudding. Can they film it as a one-off special with Paul and India, please? ) and Doctor Who and the Pirates (like The One Doctor; it pulls off a lot of ridiculousness, while ending up at a perfectly serious point, makes use of its audio format like no other and, and has a musical episode.) I've also really enjoyed The Shadow of the Scourge, Memory Lane, Scherzo, The Gathering, Spare Parts, The Settling, The Doomwood Curse and Paper Cuts among many others. (I realised I wanted to make this answer into an essay. I really do love a lot of the audios I've heard.)
5. *flails again* Again, does this want to be realistic or just fantasy? Okay: Dear BBC, for the next CiN, I would like you to crossover any combination of the following shows - Doctor Who, Spooks, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Hotel Babylon, Press Gang, Who Do You Think You Are?, LoM/A2A and any classic drama you feel inclined to include, but bonus points if it's Austen. This will save me writing ridiculous crossovers and the world will be grateful. Thank you. love lost_spook PS. If you include Spooks, Nicola Walker as Ruth Evershed is not allowed to be absent. This is important. Especially when crossing with DW. (I should explain, that if involving WDYTYA, this clearly means Six and Evelyn walking in the middle of a touching moment in an archive:
Six: He was your ancestor, was he? Hah. Complete bounder and a scoundrel.
Star: What?
EVelyn: Doctor, perhaps a little more tact might be...
Six: And he picked my pockets, I'll have you know. I don't care how grand his beard got to me, he's not my idea of a pillar of society.
Cameraman: Look, we were just about to get X to cry over the parchment... Can you get out of the way?
Six: Not if you're going to propagate such a farrago of lies, white-washing of... Oh, wait, did he say Benjamin Smith. Completely different fellow. Never heard of him. Now, excuse me, there's a Grel loose in your archives and heaven only knows what damage they might do.
Evelyn (as he marches off): I'm so sorry. He forgot to take his medication this morning. I'll see that he keeps out of your way. Oh, and does your Smith branch have any London Smiths, because, I have some interesting connections...
You see. They need to do this in Time Team and Antiques Roadshow also. Especially Time Team.
If fantasy, some wonderful 1970s special, where the Key to Time gets a proper ending, involving Blake's 7. Or just some random B7/DW/Red Dwarf mix up. It probably did happen somewhere...
*cough* That was supposed to be the short meme!

When I read the instructions for the second meme, I thought, that'll give away the year you're born. But I looked through them, not recognising any, until I came to some I remember coming out. And when I got to Star Trek V I knew which year it was. I can't decide now whether you're really young or I feel really old...

I never saw that, but then if I was 12 when it came out, by the time it came on TV (if it did much), I'd have been way too old to watch it.
*is old*
Mind, being 12 in 1989, I got to watch S26 week by week. Aren't I the lucky one? :-D
no subject
I'm SO with you on wanting them to film India and Paul in 'Chimes of Midnight' - that would be awesome!
no subject
It would. Now, if they lost that Christmas script and wanted to fill in with something, well...
no subject
So what would your other answer to #5 have been?
Also, blackcurrants!
no subject
I said I wasn't doing the qs, either, but since it's you, I'll see if I can think of some good ones now I'm back. ;-)

I've been away, so I thought I didn't want everyone having thrown fruit at me by the time I got back. I think I'll take your offer to let me off the hook - it takes me ages to think up questions!
(I'll just shrug and say, Oh raspberries, or something. ;-D)
no subject
So, your mention of raspberries indicates you want some questions?
no subject
Well, I'm glad it's improving anyway. Oh dear... :-(
no subject
Ah, okay. I misunderstood - again! (Shall go back to reading your Season 7 (Liz/Brig) fics instead of trying to think!)
no subject
Oh, I won't claim to have been making sense yesterday. Heh, nice to know they're still being read by someone! :-) Nice to know anything of mine is still being read... Teaspoon seems to have turned deathly quiet of late!
no subject
Oh yes, I'm a regular re-reader on Teaspoon.
(All I keep seeing there is either Ten/Rose or Jack/Ianto fics - can't stand either ship, so I'm reading very little new fanfic, and doing a lot of re-reading!)
no subject
To be honest, my favourite part of both these memes is "how do you like them oranges". I... don't know why.
I hope you have a nice time away! *waves*
no subject
I did, thanks. Just v tired now... And, more importantly, my Dad enjoyed his 60th birthday celebrations.
