Anarchist Sprites (Who / Spooks Crossover)

No. 3. Anarchist Sprites
Eighth Doctor & Charley / Spooks (MI5) Season 4
(All ages)

The Doctor teams up with MI5 to defeat some alien terrorists.

I had to, didn't I?  I couldn't find another crossover for my two favourite drama shows, so I had to do it myself.  Spooks-wise, set in Season 4 for obvious reasons (Ruth, Zaf for starters).  And Charley and Eight are of course a joy to write for - must do that again some time.

I included this at no. 3 because I tried very hard to make it accessible to non-Spooks fans and to give it a tight, Spooks feel as far as possible.  Trying to do a three-way split screen at the end probably only works for me, though.  Judging from comments, it does seem to have worked for those in unhappy ignorance of Spooks.  It is longer than the other stories I plan to post.

With of course slight Doctor/Ruth and much silent jealousy from Harry.  Although less than there was going to be as I was getting annoyed re the whole Harry and Ruth situation at the time.  I know.  I'll have to send a postcard and restore my faith.

Of course, I own neither show and the rights are shared between the BBC, Kudos and Big Finish.  Happy just to play with the toys for a bit.

They both collapsed onto the pavement, coughing.

“The TARDIS!” gasped out the Doctor, staring back at the remains of the theatre. The building had been completely flattened; only a few large pieces remaining. He frowned instantly. “That shouldn’t have happened!”

Charley swallowed, her face smeared with dust. “I thought the TARDIS was indestructible. It must be still there!”

Behind them, police sirens were howling in the distance and a small crowd had gathered already, a good half of them either talking into their mobiles or using them to take pictures of the mess. One of the crowd, a tall young man, snapped his phone shut and came marching across towards them.

The Doctor was still staring back at the debris. “I don’t think she is.”

Charley slipped a hand into his, knowing that the ship meant more to him than anything else. “Perhaps the floor caved in?”

“Yes,” he said distractedly. “Perhaps.”

The young Asian man reached them. “Excuse me. I’d advise you two to keep back until we know it’s safe. Can you stand?”

The Doctor nodded and the young man gave Charley a smile as he helped her up. She blushed, noticing that he was decidedly good-looking. He grinned still further and winked at her, before leading them both across the road.

Oh, brava! I thought I was the only one who saw this crossover but this is excellent. I haven't finished reading yet (oh the suspense!) but do you mind if I rec this on my journal? It's too good to be missed by anyone.

Finished now! Ruth and the Doctor - that was just brilliant! And Zaf and Charley... :) I love how you managed to keep them all perfectly in character in such a non-canon situation, and I haven't met Charley as a companion before but I love all her 'oh I say!' and 'I should jolly well think so!'. I've friended you, hope you don't mind; I'll try to check out all your other stories when I have time.

Plus shipping to Aus = $100000000... :) Might just get lucky with my local library though!
