Fic: Waiting for the Sky to Fall

Some Enemy at the Door fic, written for Hyarrowen, who wanted something to do with the Atlantic Wall and who shares my appreciation of Martel and Richter (and Committee Man!). I don't know if this was what was wanted, as it's mainly Martel & Richter discussing some consequences of the Wall for the Islands, but it's what I came up with:

Also - suppose one wanted Richter to be rather ill for the space of a few hours... do you think 'flu or malaria (picked up in Greece while on a philosophical tour, o'course) would be better?

Hmm, I'm no medical expert, but I think a recurrence of the malaria might have further consequences? Also, if that happens, you can die painfully of liver disease. I'd go for 'flu. Given the state of everything on the Island, 'flu, even for the Kommandant, would always be an option.

(I'm amused at this question. I was having a thought last night (that probably won't lead anywhere) and, aha, giving Richter a minor injury. I think great minds may be thinking alike here. Which is excellent. :loL:)
