Fic: War Is Love, Love Is War (Manhunt)

I'm determined to get a line for my trope_bingo for amnesty, and I'm so near - I just need to type a couple more things up! So, I went to my notebook and instead typed up this for hc_bingo (for "nausea," although mostly the metaphorical kind), because I'm contrary like that.

(I had to rewatch an episode for it. Probably I shouldn't have done it quite so soon after watching the OUaT finale, because in comparison the special Christmas episode where someone has to murder their dearest friend ever felt like a Dementor in TV-form, sucking all the joy out of life. Knowing where it ends up, I have to say Manhunt is the most cynical, bleak, twisted up look at WWII I've ever seen. My experience isn't massive, but even so...)

Anyway, as I may have mentioned, Vincent, one of our Extra Specially Terrible Resistance agents has top Nazis falling over themselves to die for him, one way or another, so I wrote fic about it. Even if old telly means never knowing how to spell anyone's surnames.* Spoilers abound, though, so this will probably be read by no one ever, alas. But I feel accomplished. (I just need to write Nina/Vincent/Jimmy now for my trope_bingo "huddling for warmth" square, because if you have a practically canon OT3 who have to hide in barns and hedges in a freezing winter, it would be ungracious not to do it, really. After I've typed up the squares that'll get me an amnesty Bingo.)

Your story synopsis makes it sound like a Manhunt/Ghostbusters crossover. I'm not quite sure what that would be like, mind! Egon Spengler exorcising Nazi ghosts, perhaps.

Yes, well, that's because Manhunt is very annoying with names! James Maxwell is Egon (although I'm not sure anyone actually calls him that in the ep), but he is referred to as Colonel von something incomprehensible that sounds vaguely like Battlebulg (but definitely not von Battenburg), but he's credited solely as Egon and Network has no subtitles to help me and there's no online info or scripts for stuff like this.

Paul Menard is even more annoying (as is Adelaide Marchand) because their surnames are mentioned repeatedly, but still no idea how to spell the random French surnames as variously pronounced by British actors and misheard by me.

(I'm not thinking about wrangling stuff now. Also I need to double check if Vincent's father is actually named, because he probably was.)

A Ghostbusters crossover would be much simpler, really. :-/

One day we will learn that watching modern TV is simpler. ;) These days you can Tweet to a show's writers to ask them details like that!

'Manhunt' is BBC isn't it? If it's ITV I could have a quick look at the TV Times for you.

Manhunt was ITV, but the credits in the TV guides are usually the same as the end credits. BUt thank you! I appreciate it. :-)

If I get any Ghostbusters readers, they'll run away very quickly!

The TV Times credits stick to first names (Nina, Vincent we meet in the listings again) or Colonel Surname etc. And Egon is lised as Egon! I did learn what the going rates for Nazi memorabilia were in 1970, where it was filmed (Henley-on-Thames. France wasn't France enough) and view Robert Hardy's broadsword.

Thanks! And, yes, it sounds as if they're just using the on-screen credits, which is my problem. Clearly the majority of characters have full names, many of which are mentioned several times, but I've no scripts or subtitles or wikis to consult! :-/
