Ship Questions for your Current Fandom

11. Who is your current OTP?

I have ships, I even have what you might call an OTP in a fandom from time to time, but my current fandom is Doctor Who. I don't have one single OTP for that.

If there's one ship I am a bit OTP-ish about (at least for that era), it is probaby Five/Tegan, for many reasons, but I already did a manifesto once, so I don't think I need to do it again.


12. Who is your current OT3?

This is all supposed to be DW, but let's face it: my main OT3 is, always and forever, Sapphire/Silver/Steel.

If you tie me down and force me to have a DW OT3, probably Liz/Brig/Three. Probably.


13. Any NoTPs?

Yes. Four/Adric. Why would you? ;-p


14. Go on, who are your BroTPs?

Well, okay, it's got to be Seven & Ace, really. But I'm very fond of Four, Sarah and Harry, and Two, Zoe and Jamie as well. And Six & Evelyn, and Bill & Twelve. (It is a fandom where the focus is much more usually on the Doctor-companion friendships than anything else.)


5. Is there an obscure ship which you love?

Do I need to answer that? Yes, I like quite a lot of seriously obscure ships. I expect you're not shocked at this point.


16. Are there any popular ships in your fandom which you dislike?

Conversely, if there's one thing that's going to put me off a ship, if it's it gets to be the juggernaut, so, yes: Doctor/Rose. (I have technically committed Six/Rose, but someone bet me I couldn't write it and promised me a fiver. Which they never gave me! I have in my life been bribed with an actual carrot and a fiver to do stuff and I did the stuff but I got neither.)


17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?

My first DW was Seven & Ace, but my first novelisations I read were all Five, and I probably shipped Five/Tegan from picking up Time-Flight onwards. And see the answer to the first question above. Maybe!


18. What ship have you written the most about?

Good question! I am going to guess Brig/Liz, and now I shall go away and check.

... I am right! I have 8 works on the AO3, more than for any other single ship, and I know there are a couple more than have never made it across from Teaspoon, because they're long and probably need editing, and that's not counting the ones that I think are Brig/Liz but which are marked gen because that's what everyone else thinks they are.

(Shipping is hard.)


19. Is there a ship which you wished you could get behind, but you just don’t feel them?

I suppose maybe Two/Jamie? I mean, I can see it, but I never really ship it as such. I'd rather have Two, Zoe & Jamie.


20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking?

It's been too long! I am pretty sure that once upon a time I was startled to find myself liking odd DW ships, but after a while, once you've read Ten/Jackie, Donna/Duggan, Kamelion/Vacuum Cleaner, Doctor/Hatstand or Jack/Weeping Angel, anything starts to seem possible in the right author's hands.

I was surprised that I enjoyed the one that's technically Doctor/Master/Frobisher mpreg, but Levendis is always fun, and everything's better with penguins. ;-p

I stole it from someone because I wanted a 30 days meme, so I've been doing a question or a few of them at a time, but I think it probably started as a tumblr ask meme where people send this or that questions, so basically you can do 1 question a day, or make people ask you questions, or do them all at once or whatever you like really. Once you steal it, it is yours! Make new rules. Or not.

You inspired me to go look up which ship I have written the most about. The result? Four fics, one ship each, four different fandoms, no repeats. Also, all four fics were for Yuletide, which means none of them were ships I set out to write on my own, unrequested.

I'm interested in your response to "BroTPs," because I must not understand what that term means. I assumed it was M/M OTPs, but does it mean special platonic relationships? Because I've written tons of those, but they're not tagged that way on AO3 so I wouldn't know how to count them.

Yes, BroTPs is usually friendships or buddy-ships, bro-ships, so it often gets used in a male-sense (but platonic) - which means platonic versions of the main m/m ships quite often, so I can see how you'd have got confused about it. But I assumed this meme meant it in the wider friendship sense, which it usually is these days.

Are you not an Ian/Barbara shipper then? I know some people prefer to think of them as friends, which is certainly perfectly valid. I'm never entirely sure how I see them myself. Ianandbarbara, like a sort of a gestalt entity!

Jack/Weeping Angel

You say that like it's a bit odd. It's Jack! Jack/tentacled hell beast is probably canon.

Kamelion/vacuum cleaner, on the other hand...! Although I suppose a vacuum cleaner with AI probably isn't too outlandish. I just hope for Kamelion's sake that it was less annoying than a toaster with AI. ;)
