Drabble meme - Intrusion
For
pedanther who asked for Captain Yates, Captain Magambo & robots. That's a lot to get into a drabble, so the robot appears only fleetingly, but here goes:
***
Intrusion
*
Captain Magambo walked into the other room, in what had once been HQ and was now a training centre, stopping as she found a stranger in a dated uniform. “Who are you?”
“Nobody, Captain – don’t worry, I’ll be gone soon. The Doctor said something like this might happen.” He didn’t sound threatening; more apologetic, but he stared behind her oddly.
“The Doctor?”
“Oh, and duck!” he added.
Behind her, an unlikely robot lumbered in. She dived out of the way. When she lifted her head, they’d both vanished.
She never reported the incident. It didn’t seem a good career move.

Mind you, what's weird by UNIT standards?

Thank you for your valiant effort at what was, admittedly, a pretty random prompt.
(Suddenly, I wish I had an "unlikely robot" icon.)

Well, random Fraggle would be equally UNIT-ish and surprising.

(or in a more sane way of putting it, this was absolutely adorable :) )

I'm sure the situation back in 1970s UNIT was pretty much as per usual: world ending, Master's unwise time distortion plot, aided by the Unlikely Robots, the Brigadier was telling the Doctor this wasn't good enough and Jo and Benton were either dodging things or making tea and sandwiches. :-D
