the usual unconventionality
I've been feeling rotten post-Covid Jab #2 for the past few days, so generated myself some very random summaries to share in order to cheer myself (and other people):
592) Enchanter Redeemed by Sharon Ashwood
Ancient magic and new passion…
In the last battle for Camelot, Rumplestiltskin had to make a terrible choice. Now he must pay the price: a demon from his past has reappeared and she wants nothing more than to destroy the wizard. Now, to reap her vengeance as a lover scorned, the demon occupies the body of Polly Wright – the apprentice who is capturing Rumplestiltskin’s heart – and has the innocent behaving in uncharacteristic ways. Ways that push the forbidden desire Polly and Rumplestiltskin share into heated play…
322) The Ice Prince - Sandra Marton
Too hot to handle? Prince Charles Gunn bears his title reluctantly, and wears his icy exterior like a suit of armour that no opponent can penetrate. Except the Seventh Doctor. He isn’t any ordinary adversary, he’s a high-flying, straight-talking lawyer in a no-nonsense suit and killer stilettos — conflicting signals that perplex, frustrate and attract Gunn all at the same time. Whilst they’re at odds in business, in the bedroom Gunn’s desire for Seven has the power to melt his defences — the temptation to play with fire is overwhelming.
[So... they're both trying to infiltrate Wolfram & Hart?]
31)CHASING SECRETS by KELSEY ROBERTS
Unlawfully wedded?
Sodoff Baldrick would do whatever it took to prove his innocence - and Zelena was the key to clearing his name. Her testimony had sent him to jail for a crime he didn’t commit and he could never forget what she had cost him. Baldrick had escaped to find justice...but his salvation meant marrying a woman he couldn’t trust.
Newly wedded to an escaped con and on the run from the law, Zelena didn’t think things could get much worse-but she was wrong. When their quest to clear Baldrick’s name turned deadly, their need to believe in each other was suddenly a matter of life or death.
495) The Inconvenient Duchess by Christine Merrill
Compromised and wedded on the same day, Lord Vislor Turlough was fast finding married life not to his taste. A decaying manor and a secretive husband were hardly the stuff of boyish dreams. Yet every time he looked at dark, brooding Marvin the Paranoid Android, Duke of Haughleigh, he felt inexplicably compelled - and determined - to make their marriage real!
[Why, Turlough, why?!]
347) A Devil In Disguise (The Vila Group) - Caitlin Crews
Playing with fire!
Clara Oswald's job from hell will soon be over. Ready to take her life back and walk away from the devil - currently disguised as her boss - Clara plucks up the courage to say 'I quit!'
Nothing has ever taken Melanie Bush by surprise - until now. And the word 'no' just isn't part of her vocabulary. So a resignation from the best PA she's ever had is simply unacceptable.
Clara's heard all about her legendary charm, but now that it's turned on her she understands exactly why it's so hard to say no to Melanie Bush!
451) The Scandal Behind the Wedding by Bella Frances
A diamond ring to seal the deal...
Recently jilted schoolteacher Donna Noble refuses to mope over her lousy ex – she’s taking on Dubai, one wild party at a time! But escaping a scandalous police raid so wasn’t part of her plan... not to mention her super-hot encounter with fellow party-escapee staggeringly sexy entrepreneur the Tenth Doctor!
Ten might be Dubai’s latest darling, but even he can’t afford to be papped leaving a hotel room with a thoroughly seduced-looking Donna – not with the business deal of his life about to be closed! A quickie temporary marriage should let them both off the hook – except there’s nothing quick about Ten’s plans for celebrating their wedding night... !
140) Sophie's Rogues -Vivien Jackson / Christa Paige
Merry widower Lord Victor Frankenstein, and his lover have made a game of shocking each other with their wanton encounters. Edmund Blackadder is currently in the lead, but Victor has a plan to even the score: a threesome with his friend and previous lover, the Mistress. Victor still entertains fantasies about Missy, and the idea of having both lovers at once promises pleasure beyond anything he’s experienced before.Edmund is ready to play along, but with one condition: that Victor submit completely to the two rogues’ commands…
607) The Saint by Tiffany Reisz
Gutsy, green-eyed Tom Paris never met a rule he didn't want to break. He’s sick of his mother's zealotry and the confines of Catholic school, and declares he'll never go to church again. But her first glimpse of beautiful, magnetic Father Eddie the Shipboard Computer and his lust-worthy Italian motorcycle is an epiphany.
Suddenly, daily Mass seems like a reward, and his punishment is the ache he feels when they’re apart.
He is intelligent and insightful and he seems to know him intimately at his very core. Tom is consumed — and even he knows that can't be right. But when one desperate mistake nearly costs Tom everything, it is Eddie who steps in to save him. He vows to repay him with complete obedience… and a whole world opens before him as he reveals to him his deepest secrets.
Danger can be managed—pain, welcomed.
Everything is about to begin.
[This is just weirdly, disturbingly plausible. Stop it, generator.]
514) The Captain And His Innocent by Lucy Ashford
The war is over, Napoleon is in exile and Rupert Giles's world is changed forever. Now, embroiled in a web of espionage on the Kentish coast, Giles finds himself at the mercy of a dangerous but intriguing stranger - ex-army captain Ford Prefect.
In a world ruled by danger and deception, it's hard to know whom to trust. But, try as he might to remind himself that Ford is his enemy, innocent Giles cannot help but respond to the craving he senses in the Captain's kiss!
50)FILM AT ELEVEN by KELSEY ROBERTS
When everybody is watching…
An impromptu appearance on a morning talk show to promote his new book turned Dr John Seward’s quiet life upside down. And now the brainy charmer had become a media-savvy serial killer’s next target. Even worse, the infuriatingly beautiful – and very off limits – anchorwoman Miss Mackail was the only one he could turn to for protection. Though a string of suspicious accidents proved John was in terrible danger, forging an intensely passionate relationships with Mackail seemed more frightening than being found by the madman who wanted him dead. But would John’s fleeting minutes of harrowing fame lead to a permanent future together with Mackail… or lead him straight to the killer?
440) Talk Dirty to Me by Dakota Cassidy
Former mean boy Rupert Giles is back in town and it's payback time. Literally. Giles is flat broke and his best — make that only — friend, Willow Rosenberg, is throwing him a lifeline from the Great Beyond. Giles stands to inherit her business… if he meets a few conditions:
• He's got to live in Willow's mansion.
• With his gorgeous ex-fiancée, Victoria Waterfield.
• Who could also inherit the business.
• Which is a phone sex empire.
• Wait, what?
Willow's will lays it out: whoever gets the most new clients becomes the owner of Call Girls. Giles has always been in it to win it, especially when it comes to Victoria, who's made it clear she's not going down easy. (Oh, mercy.) Can Giles really talk dirty and prove that he's cleaned up his act? Game on!
Plum Orchard, Georgia, is about to get even juicier…
[Dead!Willow is clearly having a laugh somewhere.]
28)RECONCILABLE DIFFERENCES by ANA LEIGH
Six years vanished in a heartbeat...
...as Ryan gazed down at the unconscious the Master. But the squad commander of the Special Ops unit had to steel himself against this irresistible man who’d walked out on him and was now up to his beautiful neck in a deadly game of international terror.
How many nights had he dreamt about him?
Ryan Sinclair was back in his life, sweeping him from harm’s way, but he believed he was part of a global conspiracy and he had to prove him wrong. Winning his trust again was the Master’s most important mission as danger and desire collided between a man and a man determined to turn the mistakes of the past into a promise for the future.
[no, Ryan, noooo!]
194) Eva's Deadline by Linda Hope Lee
A one-year sentence… or life?
Marvin the Paranoid Android finally had it all: the Seattle sea-view condo, the little blue sports car and the assistant editorship at the city’s hottest magazine. Everything he’d fought for since the day he walked out on his father and the Bay City Beacon, her beloved small-town newspaper…
With one call from Zoë Heriot, his father’s protégée, it was all gone. His father. His career. His independence. And, quite possibly, his mind. Because fulfilling his father’s final wishes meant meeting a one-year deadline as Zoë’s co-editor at the Beacon. That’s what they call an impossible deadline. Especially when the sparks begin to fly.
[Zoe, out to prove she is totally better than a computer, as well as prettier.]
99) What the Baby Knew – Ingrid Weaver
Ex-navy SEAL Graham O'Brien has been on grand and dangerous missions and never been rattled. But a baby on his doorstep? Luckily a beautiful stranger, Harmony Kendall, came to his aid. So now he only had to keep the baby safe, find its parents and shore up the walls around his heart!
[would watch this disturbing comedy film.]
560) The Butler Did It by Kasey Michaels
Ace McShane, Marquise of Westham, expects her butler to be awaiting her return home — even when that return follows a five-year absence. But she doesn't expect the horde of strangers who've taken up residence in her house, courtesy of that enterprising butler and a discreet classified ad. Ace's plan to toss her unwelcome tenants into the street is thwarted by a beautiful but indomitable debutante, Miss Rose Tyler — who's not averse to a bit of blackmail for a good cause.
Now Ace finds herself escorting the lovely Rose to the ton's most fashionable events — and what's more surprising, she's beginning to enjoy it. Surely she's not falling for such an infuriating woman? The butler has a lot to answer for — but then again, it's so hard to find good help...
189) Her Perfect Candidate by Candace Shaw
Co-owner of an up-and-coming interior-decorating firm, Kryten loves being a single man on the fast track to success. But everything changes when a flat tire brings Georgia senator Peri Brown into his life. The sinfully sexy politician needs the right man to clean up her image. And with Kryten's fine eye for detail, he just may be the man for the job.
Peri's reputation as a player could cost her her chance at a U.S. senate seat. But when the cameras catch her and Kryten in a kiss that's all too real, it's not only her future candidacy in jeopardy. As the lines between politics and desire begin to blur, how much will she risk to transform their passionate pretense into a landslide for love?
[To be fair, this is no less implausible than canon.]
531) Trapped With The Tycoon by Jules Bennett
One snowbound night with the boss…
the Twelfth Doctor needs access to Flashheart—to his life, to his house. So he hires the stunning event planner to keep him close. But after one magical dance, he finds himself driving him home in a snowstorm—only to be stranded by his side. And now that he’s had a taste of him, seduction is his only goal… Flashheart stirs his blood like no man he’s ever known.
But the commitment-shy charmer knows he must keep his distance from a man with such a risky reputation. He’s his boss! He’s off-limits. Now if only he can keep his hands to himself until the snow melts…
347) A Devil In Disguise (The Vila Group) - Caitlin Crews
