Merry Christmas!

(or whatever season's greetings you prefer). Since I hope very much not to be around to post after tomorrow, a Christmas recs post:

I'm sure most of these won't be new to people, but, hey it's Christmas, Doctor Who style!

A lot of Christmas stories tend to involve UNIT, and a party, but why not? As I said, nothing very new, but I did at least manage to find a list not written by the various members of DbyA:

That Time of the Year by Selena
(All ages. 2372 words. Third Doctor, Liz Shaw, Jo Grant, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Sergeant Benton, Mike Yates.)
Living in a linear fashion does things to you. Christmas and the Doctor: how it started.

Naughty or Nice by AND
(All ages. 2196 words. Third Doctor, Liz Shaw, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. It's a S7 Christmas fic!)
"Doctor," the Brigadier said wearily from behind them, "surely you're not going to tell Miss Shaw and myself that St. Nicholas is an evil alien bent on conquering the Earth."

Merry Christmas, Brigadier by [livejournal.com profile] calapine
(All ages. 2084 words. Fourth Doctor, Romana II, Tenth Doctor, Martha Jones. Very funny multi-era festive confusion.)
Because nobody wants to be fighting aliens on Christmas Day.

Festive Restings by dblauvelt
(All ages. 3762 words. Seventh Doctor, Bernice Summerfield, Wolsey. Multi-era. This is sad, funny and lovely. And Benny has standards - she leaves the Slitheen to the Intergalactic tax organisations...)
Professor Bernice Summerfield has retired, earlier than expected. Yet all is not well in her little retirement cottage in Durham, 1922, nor does the festive season bode well for her tabby, Wosley.

Bombardment of Postive Ions by [livejournal.com profile] calapine
(All ages. 2601 words. Multi-era UNIT Christmas party, with some special guests.)
Martha Jones and the UNIT Christmas Party.

I agree with your recs of the stories I already know, and you just got me to read "That Time of the Year" and it was marvelous! Looking forward to reading the rest of your recs over the next few days (just the thing to tide me over until Yuletide opens!)

Safe (and warm! and hopefully easy, or at least not-too-arduous) travels, and merry Christmas to you!

I'd seen Naughty or Nice recommended before, but this was the first time I actually got round to reading it. Well worth it.

And good luck if you're going to be travelling.
