And talking of lost episodes...

... I'm sure you've all seen the news by now

*faints*

(I have to say I'm a bad person, because when I saw it go up on my flist, I thought it was a joke because of which two episodes it was...)

Burninated DW:
108 106 episodes.

(I linked to the Radio Times article, because what exactly does the guy mean at the end, hmm?)

ETA: I am slightly out of shock and it is real. So let there be joy: THERE IS MORE WILLIAM HARTNELL AND PATRICK TROUGHTON IN THE WORLD! I have already seen a picture of a Rill!

Vicki!

And, most importantly, more Ben and Polly! ♥. And I would a million times rather see a duff ep than try to listen to it.

*JOY*

Also, since nothing seems impossible now, I shall choose to interpret those last words as "oh, yes, I am on the trail of the Power of the Daleks" because why not?

ETA2: Also what sort of film collector who lives in England - in Hampshire - picks up some Doctor Who and doesn't even think to look on the internet for which episodes are missing? I don't know. I think if I was a film collector I would be checking that sort of thing. (Oh, who cares?)

ETA3: THERE ARE CLIPS ON YOUTUBE. Look at Patrick Troughton. It would be worth it if they'd just found this minute: Underwater Menace clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OTPKZLeO1U

And Galaxy 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSX364eepsk

There must be someone out there who wanted to see these two episodes returned above all others, and wished reallyhard. I wonder who it is?

It's just that if it had been something with Zoƫ or Sam, I'd have had to check that I hadn't, in some thoughtless moment, sold my soul in exchange for it :-)

And seconding *joy*. Without anyone having to take one-way trips to 1969, either. That we know about.

It sounds like he has some more leads to follow up on!

LOL

Indeed there is!

HOORAY! (hooray, what a wonderful day, for I they have found my Doctor Who!)

And I'm so disappointed with my flist, you're the first person who posted about it :D

[identity profile] pitry.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I can't say anything - I have to shamefully admit I fell asleep twice while trying to watch Hartnell. So yeah... I'm probably not going to watch these two - but it doesn't mean I can't rejoice that they exist!! :D

[identity profile] pitry.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I haven't tried that one - I should! I tried An Unearthly Child, and thoroughly enjoyed episode 1, and then it turned into two cavemen arguing about which one of them invented fire and I fell asleep. And then I tried The Daleks... I think I survived to episode 3 with that one, but again... not much beyond that :)

I really liked the Romans. I loved how they travelled back in time and the problem wasn't some alien life form masquerading as Romans that was causing menace, just actual Romans!

And YAYYYYYYYY for more episodes!!!! *does happy dancing*

[identity profile] pitry.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That... actually sounds promising! In a loltastic sort of way. I'll definitely be on the lookout for that!

(Also, yes, I've seen the clips, and OMG Patrick Troughton <3)

What was I saying in my other comment?! Which, btw, I posted before I saw this post. It's amazing what turns up! Fingers crossed that Isaac Asimov stuff turns up somehow. ::hugs Lost Spook exuberantly::

I'm quite pleased to have more Troughton, even if it's that one. ("Nothing in the world can stop me now!!")

I'd love to have "The Crusade" in its entirety...

Wow That's Awesome!!

[identity profile] derekmetaltron.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Still squeeing right now - I can just about hope to see all of 'Evil of the Daleks' one day again now!

And more Vicki and Professor Zarloff = Win. My only niggle is my inner cashman bemoaning the knowledge that they'll have to re-release Lost in Time now and I have to buy the new version!

What's interesting is given the way this was found, that guy who owned them might actually have more - he needs to have help looking through all those spools just in case!

[identity profile] derekmetaltron.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhh, nice! I know they're also talking about doing animated versions of Tenth Planet and Ice Warriors after they've tackled Reign of Terror. And then the material from Shada is being coupled with the 30th Anniversary documentary I can fondly remember seeing at a mere 6 years old (and recalling how Wendy Padbury called Cybermen 'really sexy'!)

It is a wonderful thing - I saw the released clips of the two episodes before I went to bed and whilst they're not A-List who stories it is exciting to have some stuff back - I homestly thought after 7 years since Masterplan Episode 2 that that was probably it for the finds.

And yeah, I would love it if those 'threads' he mentions turn out to yield something (particulrly if that something has Daleks, Cybermen or Yeti in it!).

[identity profile] derekmetaltron.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! Actually for a long time I thought it was Katy Manning who said it (only to remember that Jo never faced the Cybermen so it seemed a little weird)! In any case I'm gonna love seeing it again (cause I really did think Red Post Boxes were good subs for Daleks).

I would be happy with a great many thing - the Crusade being complete (its my favourite pure historical, though I've yet to see Aztecs), Power or Evil, either of the Yeti stories (particularly Ep2 of Web of Fear with Colonel Lethbridge!), Moonbase or Wheel (first Zoe!)... just the thought that some more stuff could be out there and it's believable for the first time in years is very exciting. :D

The joy of more Troughton is hard to overestimate...
