Those rumours again
You know those rumours about missing DW episodes that just won't quite die? They've returned again and this time various sources are claiming that tomorrow the BBC are going to announce missing Patrick Troughton stories to be available digitally this week. (And that there may also be more found.)
At least this time, there's a deadline. We don't hear anything tomorrow, obviously it's just more rumour-mongering, but if we do...
*tries very hard not to think about that and get my hopes up for no reason*
ETA: Of course, now they're saying "end of the week" instead... *eyes rumours darkly*

If it's a vast missing mountain, it's one of various things, not just DW. Who knows? I just wish it'd either die a final and painful death or they'd actually confirm it. And I wouldn't care if they didn't say what it was, if they want to keep things up their sleeve, just, "Yes, there is something - stay tuned!" would be nice.
Ah well. Probably all pipe dreams again... :-/

I think our copybooks need a new heading.
That someone had found all the stories, including the ones that were burned.
And then when it all came to nothing, we tore out our hair from the stress;
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Don't trust the tabloid press."

Some more Troughton would be great, wouldn't it. I do prefer Hartnell (especially the Ian and Barbara era), but poor old Trout got hit so hard by the deletions. It would be nice to think that a bit more of his work had been recovered. I remember, so many years ago, being given the Target novelisation of "Fury From The Deep", and loving it to pieces. Finding out that it was missing some years later really stung! It would be so nice to have something more from that era...
*sigh*
Must. Not. Get. Hopes. Up. :)

Or maybe it was specifically meant for you, so you could get enjoyment from Ian Levine's Twitter?
Anyway, let's try not to hope too hard and cross our fingers that there's at least five lost minutes returned for all of this.

Still, we'll have to wait and see...

I shall now go distract myself with Yuletide - that should do it. :-)

The persistence of these rumours is pretty damn hilarious though, whether or not they turn out to be true.

But anyway, it's all probably rubbish again. *sighsighsigh*

Right now I'll just... concetrate on signing up for Yuletide. Which is hard enough as it is.

And I literally spent hours today just trying to find stuff to request and offer, to my emotional anguish. "What I want to read" "what I feel comfortable writing/requesting" and "what is available" seem to intersect waaay too rarely considering more than a thousand fandoms are available... I'll leave the letter for the weekend.
(I could've just stocked up on Doctor Who spin-offs, but I'm weird about Yuletide in that I try to get away from my main fandoms that one time of the year... so no SJA or Big Finish for me. Unless other people write for them, of course.)

That one came out of the blue - and when I saw it go up on my flist, I honestly thought it was just a joke, because of the pairing of two such traditionally unloved serials (like a Good news! Bad news! joke). And then it was real!
One of the most exciting things about that, though, was that several articles at the time sounded as if they were on the trail of something else and feeling hopeful about finding it - and given these latest rumours have been growing for 2 years, maybe we're about to find out exactly what that was now?
And I can understand not wanting your usual fandoms for Yuletide. It's nice to have them in there, but it is fun to play with things you would never otherwise ask for. I'm requesting Jago & Litefoot, though, but there's simply nothing for it in the fandom - I think the only thing there is was written by me, which is no use from my point of view! But, yes, I doubt I'll offer SJA, and the others I'm not up to date with canon for anyway. Good luck with it!

Not that I'm an impatient, demanding fan or anything...

but since the cat is very much out of the bag and making a mess already, it seems pointless to try to hide it any more.
Exactly - unless it really is all some sort of mistake over the fact the BBC are offering b&w episodes digitally for the anniverary, but not new ones. I understand a while back there might have been some very good reasons for silence, but if there's any truth in them being restored enough to be available, they could at least say that, yes, they have something and put us out of the misery of trying hard not to believe any of it just in case...
Ah, well, fingers crossed for some good news and not disappointment!!

I've seen so many theories doing the rounds over the last few days, weeks and months, I don't know what to believe any more. One thing that has been mentioned is that if new/lost episodes are back and being made available digitally, they may not have been retored, merely scanned to allow us to see them as is before the no doubt lengthy restoration process begins. Could be something in that, or it could just be more wishful thinking!
If they've found Marco Polo, Web of Fear, Power of the Daleks...I may just start screaming.
But I can't bring myself to be optimistic yet. I want to believe! I'm just not sure I dare...

I know, I feel pretty much the same, although slightly more optimistic this time. *crosses fingers and concentrates on Yuletide instead*

See? That's all I was asking for, BBC.

Gallifrey Base are still not allowing any discussion of the news until the formal announcement later in the week. But it looks to be pretty safely in the bag now, surely!

Still, for the moment, I shall merely assume that we have an extra episode of The Space Pirates. (Which would be cool, actually, because more Two, Zoe & Jamie, and also... is Madeline Issigri's hair really metal?)

GB are now allowing celebrations ahead of the formal announcement. Something is definitely in the bag - we just have to wait and find out what!

I KNOW!!! How can it be true? After twenty years, how, how... who cares? It's marvellous!!
