AO3 Fiction Meme

Stolen from
corvidology! I hadn't seen this one before or not this particular iteration, so, of course, meme sheep says baaaaa:
These questions are about stories you've posted to AO3.
1) How many stories have you posted?
606
2) In what categories?
Gen (407)
F/M (159)
F/F (27)
M/M (18)
Multi (16)
Other (11)
(Other generally involves non human elemental whatsits doing whatever it is that non human elemental whatsits do when they maybe like each other.)
3) What ratings?
General Audiences (493)
Teen And Up Audiences (112)
Mature (1)
(And I'm pretty sure the 1 (1) Mature rating is for the fic that involves Nazis and Suicide. I'm sorry, no sex, just depressing historical fic there.)
4) How many fandoms?
132, although some of them will be things that I wouldn't necessarily count as more than one fandom (like Doctor Who), but still, um, yes, I am a flighty multifannish butterfly. Lots of them are crossovers with my regular fandoms, especially Doctor Who, which lends itself to that kind of thing more than most fandoms.
5) How many fandoms where you've written more than 10 stories?
11 (not counting DW separately)
6) Any fandoms where you were the first to post a story for it?
Yes. Quite a few over the years, including one that I wrote specifically to create a fandom tag after a wrangling error where I canonised the fandom and then realised it didn't have any actual works in it (this sort of thing is why canonising fandoms is a lot more restricted now than it was then), and wrote a double drabble rather than undo what I had done. It is, of course, one of my most popular works.
I make it about 22 fandoms I put onto the archive.
7) Any fandoms where your story is still the only one posted for it?
10 are still fandoms of one, although in some cases I've written more fic for it, and one or two others have had some mistagged additions.
8) How many fandoms that are still Yuletide sized?
Many. I'm sorry, that is WAY too much counting!
9) How many fandoms where there are still less than 5000 stories posted for it at AO3?
Meme, I have 132 fandoms on my dashboard! Probably the majority of them.
10) How many megafandoms (over 50,000 stories posted for the fandom at AO3)?
Star Wars, Doctor Who (although it's only just into mega-fandom status if you include everything under it, and that does mean Torchwood, so it's a close call), Star Trek
I've also written for OUaT, which is just hovering under mega-fandom status at ~49k works.
11) How many AUs have you written where the settings, occupations, etc are completely changed?
If I exclude the canon-divergence tag, I make it possibly 76. It's definitely less than that for whole other-setting AUs, but I'm not looking through 76 works to try and find which ones are and which ones aren't.
I've played the AU Meme quite a few times now, which adds up, though.
12) How many canon-divergent and/or canon distorting trope (like soul marks, body swap)+canon AUs have you written?
19 apparently, although again, I suspect that I may not have tagged as correctly as a person would hope on the other 76 AU works.
13) How many stories have you written that would require an AO3 content warning or a CNTW?
28 - 26 Major Character Deaths and 2 Choose Not To Warn.
I suddenly feel surprisingly bloodthirsty. Mind you, I bet a lot is just B7 and Spooks being B7 and Spooks.
14) How many words in the shortest story you've posted?
98, according to AO3, but it was a perfect drabble in my Word doc when I wrote it, I promise!
15) How many words in the longest story you've posted?
Of things that are actually one fic and not collected ficlets, it's the recent Origfic I posted, Austerity Gamble at nearly 36k, but I have longer works over at the Teaspoon that I wrote before I was so ill.
16) How many crossover stories have you written?
125 works. Look, I'm a Doctor Who fan! It is a fandom that just asks for it, really.
17) How many fusion stories have you written?
3, but this is technically either less than the real amount, or a complete lie, as they are all AU Meme entries, a lot of which have one short Fusion section as part of the meme. I just tagged inconsistently.
In actual Fusions, the number is 0. I tend to prefer crossovers or whole other AUs if I'm going to go that way.
18) How many RPF stories have you written?
1 fic that is technically RPF for I, Claudius, centring around the snake in the title credits.
Plus some Historical RPF, which is a bit hard to count - some of it is historical RPF, written for Yuletide, including the AU Modern setting for the Battle of Hastings, but some of it is actually for obscure, historically accurate 1970s BBC dramas like The Shadow of the Tower and The Six Wives of Henry VIII where tagging for both seemed reasonable.
So - 18 total, but actually only 6 discounting the BBC drama ones.
19) How many WIPs and/or series do you have posted?
0
20) Do you have any fanfic that's completed but not posted to AO3?
Yes. There were some very slight meme ficlets that are still lurking somewhere on LJ and Dreamwidth, plus a lot of older and longer DW fic on A Teaspoon and an Open Mind that I've never reposted. I probably should add some of them, but I think they'd all need a good going over that I do not have the brain for right now.

Date: 2021-02-20 12:58 pm (UTC)In crossovers, characters from one universe will run into those from another. A Fusion, however, is a particular kind of AU where the plot or world-building of one canon is borrowed and 'fused' into another & has always been there, like everyone in B7 having daemons and this not being a new random event, but just grafted onto the existing world. People also take the plot of a romcom or romance novel or something and rewrite it starring their OTP from a different canon. Fusions are generally only of interest to the fandom the characters come from, and so people get annoyed when they're tagged as crossovers with both fandoms in the fandom field (just ask the HDM people).
Whereas a crossover is just a story where, for instance, the TARDIS happened to land on the Liberator one time, shenanigans ensued and a fic was written. People are just going about their business in a regular canon and happen to bump into someone or something from another canon, especially where you get a canon like DW where the TARDIS can literally go anywhere, or two canons that exist at the same time and place and can be naturally crossed over. Or, it can be crackier than that, but it's still both fandoms crossed as they are in canon, even if it might involve some canon divergence AUs on occasion.

True that!
132 fandoms! Wow!
Nice meme. *steals*

Date: 2021-02-28 01:28 pm (UTC)Fics I have made Because Wrangling is definitely a category on AO3! I'm not the only one who's done it for reasons, although more usually to home an abandoned character without a fandom - someone bravely did that the other day.
Nice meme. *steals*
Meme theft is definitely the best kind of theft.

Date: 2021-04-28 05:54 pm (UTC)And I did a genuine double take with this sentence "1 fic that is technically RPF for I, Claudius, centring around the snake in the title credits."
Fandom can be such a surprising place...
