Yuletide has been revealed and I can now own up to my crimes, and also to my assignment and treats.

My assignment was in Adam Adamant Lives! for aris_tgd, which was fun, although given that I had a clear idea and plenty of time and a familiar fandom, it still all nearly went pear-shaped due to tiredness, and me writing a treat in the meantime for something that was just slightly easier at that moment, which ate everything.

Which is to say, I wrote casefic, I think it did end up quite good and all (I managed a limerick again!), but it is not the fic in my head, so it's very hard for me to judge, as it lost a lot of the whole adventure-in-two-time-periods it was supposed to have, among other things. But, still - casefic, people being tied up, ridiculous, evil ladies, a limerick - and once I got a bit better again, it was a joy to rewatch and to write, as ever.

I did manage to do some small things for fandom_stocking at least (literally small - all icons and drabbles, saving one recs list!), but as ever, I have pulled out far more than I put in, which seems unfair. Here are my very lovely gifts:

* liadt drew me Shadow of the Tower art which made me go awwww a lot (and you can totally see the curtain texture of the BBC costumes in it, too).

* john_amend_all wrote me a fab little Adam Adamant Lives! crossover with DW (Bill/Ace) here

* my absurdly practical robin by rain_sleet_snow, which is five times fic for Drusilla from The Quiet Gentleman, one of my favourite Heyer characters, and it's also lovely.

Anyway, I loved going through it all so much. People are very kind. <3

In the event of me seemingly getting worse at writing birthday ficlets, instead of better, I have for the past couple of years, taken the Unconventionalcourtship Generator and had a flash-fic writing session with it, tackling any prompts where I felt able to write both characters for john_amend_all's birthday. The end of June was particularly bad, so here it is, only slightly delayed.

One of the results that came up was clearly something I thought would amuse astrogirl2, who also had a birthday around the same time, so, I'm calling that a belated present also. Plus some bonus summaries I failed at writing. (The whole package is like a bundle of those tacky plasticky things you get at the seaside, but I had fun.) I did this on different days, before and during my family's visit, so it all got a bit out of hand. But still mostly not even shippy. /o\

That's four out of eight which are still the same old WIPs (and three from the previous post which I did complete in the meantime), but, to be fair, I keep writing and finishing other things in the meantime. I mean, I have trope_bingo to finish and then I can destroy worlds for tic_tac_woe! (I won't say nothing in the world can stop me, because some days it seems that just about anything in the world can stop me, especially in summer.)

The second was for moemachina, about Feste & Olivia from Twelfth Night. As I've loved Feste since I did the play for A-Levels mumble years ago, I couldn't resist. I had an idea, but then remembered that writing Shakespeare fic is TERRIFYING. So I watched BBC TN twice in a row, found some 16th C jokes and riddles on the internet, built my fic around those and then went for it. And then typed it up while mentally going LALALA not writing Shakespeare etc. Happily, it seems to have got some really lovely comments, so I clearly didn't mess it up too badly.
