What's wrong with being a sheep?
Feb. 19th, 2011 06:07 pmEveryone seems to be posting happy fanvids. This is a good thing. I will also oblige with some reciprocal happiness of the Who-ish kind.
Here you go - Six being unrepentently Six:
and Seven's lighter side:
Also I came across this Spike/Buffy vid. To McFly's 'Obviously'... and the whole thing fits so perfectly, it just makes me grin.

Date: 2011-02-19 08:32 pm (UTC)I started grinning as soon as I recognized the Razzle Dazzle song from Chicago -- so appropriate for Seven! And the world needs more videos of Six being all Six-y. :D

Date: 2011-02-19 09:45 pm (UTC)Er... I'm actually only saying that because I never watched Buffy. I just want more real monster/monster romance.

Date: 2011-02-19 11:19 pm (UTC)But it's weird to see how they use the same clips in the same parts. Surreal really.
Loving the Seven vid! I haven't seen that one! I'd thought I'd seen every Seven vid of decent quality on youtube. I'm loving how they made use of some of the DVD bonus material. Heh.
And then last one... I never thought I'd see unexpected naked James Marsters on YOUR journals. lmao. That was brilliant. I need to watch the last two season of Buffy at some point...

Date: 2011-02-20 09:20 am (UTC)Spike asks to have daft fanvids made about him - the thing with him is, he can never be monster enough for Dru, nor man enough for Buffy. Buffy is actually well-worth watching if you get the chance. I didn't for ages, because I assumed it was a jokey cartoon about a vampire-killing rabbit, but as it turned out, it wasn't... And Joss Whedon seems happy for people to mix-and-match his characters, so pick whichever ship you like - but don't tell the fandom about it, seems to be the thing. Heh.

Date: 2011-02-20 09:30 am (UTC):-) Yeah, I like it. It's kind of Seven's lighter side, but also possibly not. It works really well, and the clips fit.
 Well, I do like Buffy and Angel, too. I'm always a bit shy of talking about them in case there are scary Buffy/Angel or Spike/Buffy fans lurking about who might suddenly try to kill me for unorthodox opinons or something. ;-D
And I mean, after the unexpected naked!Ancelyn the other week, you should be prepared for anything. I just loved the way it was so tongue-in-cheek and yet fitted down to every line ("He's in the marines..." "So I moved to LA...") Also what Spike's expression would be if he found that someone had made a fanvid about him to McFly... *sniggers*
(James Marsters is brilliant, though: Have you seen the final Angel ep? There's a bit where he finally reads out his 'Ode to Cecily' and does it so well, it becomes a good poem in the performance. Love that Spike's answer to 'What do you do with the last day of your life?' is to go to a poetry slam in a bar....)

Date: 2011-02-20 03:15 pm (UTC)Oh, yes, there are some vampire/vampire ships in it - Angelus/Darla, Spike/Dru, Darla/Angelus/Dru, Dru/Anything... According to Angel, even one time there was Spike/Angelus. Technically lots of the human characters are sort of non-human, too (slayers, part-demon, ex-demon, witch, werewolf etc etc), so it's all up for grabs. Werewolf/witch witch/witch, robot/vampire slayer/vampire... And the whole thing is quite complex, really. Like I said, it's definitely worth a watch, if you get the chance some day. The dialogue's pretty brilliant, anyway. :-)
Here's a Spike/Drusilla one for you. ;-)

Date: 2011-02-20 06:10 pm (UTC)Teal dear: Genuine (i.e. not 'unhealthy' or one-sided) love between two (or more) immortals/semi-immortals - I want more of it.
Er... sorry about the novel.

Date: 2011-02-20 08:10 pm (UTC)The Buffyverse is complex, though, with its own in-verse mythology, and you won't really find vampire/vampire love there, either, I'm afraid - because Buffyverse vampires aren't capable of love. Spike seems to have that ability (but this is unique & possibly to do with Drusilla being his sire, and she has strange powers). It doesn't tend to anyone in it having an OTP much, either, to be fair.
There is however, a lust/blood/obsession kind of thing that binds vampires together, and so Darla/Angelus and Spike/Dru, and any combination of the four is there. (You do get 200 years or more of Darla & Angelus.) They make a kind of twisted, incestuous family together, if that appeals, I dunno? I don't think it'd count as healthy in anybody's book, though. ;-)
And they do have at least one female immortal being won over by a male human (or almost), as well... (That would be massive spoilers though, if you ever were to watch it.)

Date: 2011-02-20 09:31 pm (UTC)About the only one I can think of is Star Trek Voyager - they Q/Female Q. Also when Q went after Captain Janeway before that, she told him to push off. :-) (If more mortals did this to immortals, life would be more entertaining.)
As for Buffy, like I said, it works as it is, but that's to do with the characters all being interesting & complicated, and the in-universe mythos hanging together & all that sort of thing.
ETA: I should add, I don't really have much opinion on this at all! *sheepish* If I'm going to like a ship, all I ask is that they win me over to it with proper characterisation and development of the romance/story, whoever or whatever the two involved in the pairing are.

Date: 2011-02-21 02:04 am (UTC)Buffy! I've only seen the first five seasons. I watched them all in a row two years ago, and that was my first and last real contact with the show. I did like it though. It was very well done.
All I've seen of Angel (that I remember anyways) is that episode where everyone gets turned into a puppet. Love that episode.
And James Marsters is quite brilliant indeed!

Date: 2011-02-21 12:03 pm (UTC)Well, I would always love to see any vid you had made, but don't worry if it can't be extracted.
Ah, I see. Somehow I thought you were sort of more into the fandom than me - it was probably taht Giles & Ian story you wrote or something, I don't know. Angel and S6 & S7 are still worth watching. Even when they fail, they are still about ten times better than most other shows. I have a lot of love for Angel. Its themes (of redemption, being broken, & so on) struck much more of a chord with me than the high school demon metaphors of Buffy when I came (late) to the party - I sort of watched Buffy S2 pt 1, S4 and Angel S1 all at the same time because it was what I could get hold of, so I have random opinions of the show, due to watching it totally out of order...
Muppet!Angel was quite something. Anything that has the line "... and I think my nose is detachable." is fine by me. :-D
