Made for [community profile] iconcolors, [community profile] icontalking and [community profile] iconthat, plus alternates. I was having a bit of an uninspired dip, icon-making-wise, so decided to inspire myself with Blake's 7 (with the help of its Image Library). (I always have B7 feels.) One set of these is also based on the Avon-Jenna-Blake fanvid One Last Breath by Zukalis (spoilery, as usual) & most of the text in that set is from the lyrics.

Teaser:

And I'm thinking, maybe six feet ain't so far down )

Credits: Images from the B7 Image Library; textures by shiruji, whitebamboo, tigertyger & more. The usual rules apply - want, take, have, credit. Comments = ♥ and hotlinkers will be left to explain their misguided ways to Servalan.

[community profile] remixrevival has now revealed the authors for the main collection, so I can now own up that this was my effort, though I doubt it'll come as too much of shock to anyone who read it and knows me!

Autumn Mourning (The Falling Leaves and Elephants Remix) (4329 words) by lost_spook
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Blake's 7, Doctor Who (2005)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Major Character Death
Relationships: Orac & The Doctor's TARDIS, Kerr Avon/Orac, The Doctor/The Doctor's TARDIS
Characters: Orac (Blake's 7), The Doctor's TARDIS, Kerr Avon, Vila Restal, Dayna Mellanby, Soolin (Blake's 7), Del Tarrant
Additional Tags: Remix, Artificial Intelligence, Computers, Canonical Character Death, Post-Canon, Post-Gauda Prime, Jokes
Summary: Orac has data to share with the TARDIS. The TARDIS reads more than Orac knows or wishes – about its humans, its sad state, and its non-existent electric heart.

From Grieved It on its Way by [personal profile] still_lycoris. My remix is thoroughly spoilery for Blake's 7 in multiple ways (should anyone Doctor Who side be interested).

The first fic I read when looking for what to remix was this one, and it was so obviously the one I was going to have to remix, I was almost affronted. Anyway, the original is a lovely/sad post-canon crossover about Orac and the TARDIS, with Orac sending files to the TARDIS, so I could switch it to the TARDIS's end and explore the files she receives. Plus, there's an old joke about elephants and trees.

With thanks to [personal profile] aralias who beta-ed the original, and who asked the important question: where was Gan? (Whoops. Sorry, Gan!)
thisbluespirit: (s&s - silver)
Another 500 Prompts ficlet! (Hey, [personal profile] aralias, remember when you gave me a load of Deva prompts? You might be about to regret it. ;-p)*

False Gold (677 words) by lost_spook

Fandom: Blake's 7
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Deva (Blake's 7), Vila Restal
Additional Tags: Post-Gauda Prime, Implied/Referenced Character Death, Ficlet, 500 prompts
Summary: Some people say that, actually, money doesn’t exist. Some days that seems to be all too true.

* I was very proud of myself for not having written any Deva fic, despite all the Silver-fic I'd committed. aralias is evil, and I'm slow...

1. I've just done a friending meme and even actually managed to friend new people (I asked some of them myself!) (hi, new flisters!) and now of course, I am off to my parents' for Christmas, where internet access will be variable and most likely reading rather than commenting. Sorry about that.

Also because the next few posts following this will very likely be the one where I'm not here but I have to mention my Yuletide gift, the one where I'm back but exhausted, and then a wave of Yule-recs. So, um, yes, welcome? I will try and do something properly introductory in the New Year, though.

But I hope everyone who is celebrating Christmas has a lovely one, and anyone not celebrating manages to have a nice week despite any unwanted festivities! ♥

2. I nearly managed to finish the last writing meme before I went (because if I don't now, I won't) but I embarrassingly ran out of spoons with one left to go. (Sorry last person; once I cross that line, I cross that line. It was accidental!) I will have another writing meme soon enough, I'm sure. I might even get through all the prompts next time.

And here are the last three:Under the cut so as not to take up too much space )
thisbluespirit: (b7 - Vila)
The first two results of the conversational crossover meme. (And years may have passed since the last time I did it, but I still fail on the 'no explanations' part, but I refuse to be sorry for that!)

thisbluespirit: (dw - six)
1. I defaulted on Not For Prime Time. I know by now I shouldn't sign up for exchanges, excepting only Yuletide (because once a year come hell or high water to see how it goes is a good thing) and possbly Remix (because it works differently). But of course I love exchanges and it's hard to remember that they don't mix well with being ill even in the best circumstances. So I'm kicking myself for giving in and signing up, and also for defaulting on a really lovely assignment that I had a perfectly workable idea for, but I'm immediately a good deal less stressed. Bingos are fine, Runaway Tales, prompts, commentfests, but not exchanges and only some ficathons. I know this by now. *kicks self again*

(When I'm well enough, one day, sometime, never, I shall sign up for ALL THE EXCHANGES. And run some. And ficathons. All of them. Well, maybe, lol.)

2. While not doing NPT, I did quite a lot of family history (tidying, small bits of transcribing and typing up mostly, but more and more consistently than I've managed for six years), which is amazing. If I have been quiet lately, that was one of the reasons.

3. Also I wrote some more ficlets (while not writing my NPT fic, I know, I know. I should be able to do it; it's just never quite that simple). Two more for the meme, one for the Commentfest (it hasn't entirely ended yet):

Characters/Pairings: Vila Restal, Dayna Mellanby, Kerr Avon, Soolin.
Notes/Warnings: S4, post-Orbit. Dodgy physics.

You never know what you'll find when you start opening old files. I didn't find unfinished fic in the first one I tried - I found something better worse... I apparently saved some more of those randomly generated ship fics from ages ago. And added in some Liz/Silver. I had to share. None of them reach the heights of randomly generated Avon/Servalan fic, but then, what could?

Silliness ensues )

Sunday... must be time to provide shiny distractions in the shape of recs... And I've decided it's a good day to talk about Blake's 7 and Vila Restal...

Vila fanvid that sums everything up brilliantly, is spoiler free, and safe for newbies (how much sense some of the clips might make, I can't vouch for, but it's fun and very well edited.

The Adventures of Pink Pancho Vila (by Zukalis):

He's the most obvious 'type' on board: the lovable, cowardly, lower-class thief... but this is B7, and Vila, and you can never be quite sure. He's probably every bit as dangerous as the rest of the crew... except he scares himself, too.

Couple of fic recs )

I've been so bad about writing (aside from long things, for some reason) lately that I was sadly going to pull out on my last two crossover fics, but then decided to aim for 300 words each and go for it, and stop being so stupid, and lo, there was fic. I'm sorry if they weren't worth the wait for the remaining patient two on my flist, but here goes:

Vila and Kenny Phillips )

Calling Dr Jones )

This may or may not be a UNIT fic smutty insert )

Thanks to everyone for their lovely prompts for the crossover birthday meme I held, and I wish it hadn't been such an odd summer, and I'd written them all sooner for everyone.
thisbluespirit: (Avon no sense)
One of those things that definitely wasn't what I was supposed to be doing with my afternoon off. But [livejournal.com profile] emerald_happy's suggestion of a Ros-Avon snark fest began to take shape in my head. Two disclaimers: 1. I apologise that there isn't anything like enough snark. 2. There really ought to be a very dark version of this somewhere. (I'll think about it).

Story: A Comedy of Errors
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Rating: PG
Word Count: 3,130
Characters/Pairings: Ros Myers, Kerr Avon, Ruth Evershed, Vila Restal, Zafar Younis, Harry Pearce, Malcolm Wynn-Jones, Dayna Mellanby, Del Tarrant, Adam Carter, Jo Portman.
Warnings: No real spoilers for either show. (Set just before 5.5 for Spooks, somewhere in S3 for B7.)

Summary: In which Section D apprehend a group of apparent terrorists in the act, only to find there’s something strange about them. This could all be smoothed over if Ros hadn’t entered a battle of wills with their leader. (A Very Silly Spooks/B7 crossover, with Avon and Ros snark, and everyone else having a nice day out in London. Ruth’s continuing acceptance of all things strange and alien, is still me running on from my fic Anarchist Sprites, but it always seems in character somehow.) Most of this, as I said, is entirely [livejournal.com profile] emerald_happy's fault.

thisbluespirit: (Avon)
My effort for this week's [livejournal.com profile] b7friday challenge "Different strokes":

Little Grey Cells
492 words, All ages.
It's one of the those classic 1930s murder mystery moments. Just with Avon, not M. Poirot...

(I haven't forgotten I still owe drabbles, but there's a one week limit on the challenges for this comm).
thisbluespirit: (Jenna worry)
Story: It's All Glamour and Guns in Outer Space
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 3671
Characters/Pairings: Romana I, Jenna Stannis, Servalan, Vila Restal, Fourth Doctor, Roj Blake, Kerr Avon, K9
Warnings: None - spoiler free! (S1 Blake's 7, Key to Time DW)

Summary: The Doctor’s on the wrong planet and Blake’s blowing up the wrong target. More to the point, Romana, Jenna Stannis and Servalan are causing trouble in a futuristic fashion boutique... (Doctor Who/Blake's 7)

I haven't forgotten the few drabbles I still owe, but I wrote this the other night when I really couldn't sleep. Somehow it cured my insomnia and I was even still amused by it in the morning. So, typed up, my first proper B7/DW crossover. Except it's very silly, and all about 1978 being the year for glamour. And it was supposed to be Romana, Jenna and Servalan being awesome (in their own very different ways, and always in stylish outfits), but Vila sneaked in. (The main story is the subplot, but there was still room for a tiny bit of Avon-snark. It wouldn't be B7 otherwise.) I tried my very best to make it both spoiler-free and accessible, but with the rider that I can't guarantee I succeeded.

It is, with impressive speed, already up on Teaspoon.
thisbluespirit: (Vila)
Can be found here at [livejournal.com profile] b7friday. I was feeling like writing a spooky ficlet, and this comm threw out a Halloween challenge, so I had a go.

No actual spoilers and just a bit of spookiness if anyone feels like reading. I now want to make it longer. There wasn't enough space for Vila to think enough bad things about Avon for leaving him on a haunted planet.
thisbluespirit: (ontheup)
Readers with long ears and short tails may recall me going on about my fanfic rec sites,
StarCrossed (for DW crossovers) and They Do Things Differently There (for DW historical fics).

Well, I'm still posting on them and I'm really pleased with them, but I am seriously in need of finding some more decent historical fics. At the moment, I'm running through about the same five or six authors.

The authors being used repetitively are [livejournal.com profile] jjpor, bad_dickens, sunnyrea, jinxed_wood plus one-off stories here and there, inlcuding my own. I do have a couple longer stories I need to get around to having a look at, but there must be more out there somewhere. Anyone got any recs I can nick? (Preferably gen/teen). Mind you, what is there is all good fic. And I really like the way the categories work. (I'm so shallow and frivolous about these things!)

The crossover one is good fun, though - and after all my B7 meandering can I double rec AstroGirl's Box of Tricks? I expect you'll know it, but it's a) short and completely spoiler-free b) has a note-perfect Vila voice as well as fun with the Fourth Doctor and c) is full of lovely sly humour at the shared limitations of two shows. (If you can get DW quarry jokes, you can get B7 quarry jokes, basically...)

Also, I can look at the blog stats and see what searches bring it up (so if you Google your own fic, I can see! ;-D), who visited what posts and how many visits I've had per day. This amuses me greatly. (Heads off to find a life). Especially that the Carry On and On the Up posts have proved oddly popular. Well, Carry On, I guess, but I didn't imagine anyone other than me wanting to read my On The Up crossover.
thisbluespirit: (smallbrain)
I've just written a v. short little Blake's 7 fic - my first. I'm afraid it isn't in the least bit serious and is inspired by the thing in S3 that amused me the most.
