thisbluespirit: (Northanger reading)
As [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks were having another amnesty, I thought, in the absence of much brain, I'd try doing some graphics for it. Of course, the graphics turned out to be unusable and instead I accidentally wrote two ficlets, one another 100 Elements prompt ficlet, and the other a rather random Miss Marple meets Dracula crossover ficlet.

Misdirection (879 words) by lost_spook

Sapphire’s got a plan, but Silver’s not at all sure where this is going...

So We Meet at Last (758 words) by lost_spook
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Miss Marple - Agatha Christie, Dracula & Related Fandoms
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Jane Marple, Count Dracula, Abraham Van Helsing, John Seward
Additional Tags: Community: fan_flashworks, challenge: genre, Crossover, Women Being Awesome, miss marple is awesome
Summary:

Two genre legends meet. The outcome is inevitable. Someone really should have warned the Count never to trifle with fluffy old ladies.

Also, a ficlet for the flight challenge at [livejournal.com profile] who_at_50, Flight (675 words, Eighth Doctor, Mary Shelley).

(Edited because apparently I have trouble remembering what I actually called my fic these days...)
thisbluespirit: (S&S - Sapphire & Steel 3)
... And this was the other thing, which was a prompt from my list doubling up for the challenge:

Title: Haunting
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Rating: All ages
Word Count: Drabble
Characters/Pairings: Sapphire, Steel
Warnings None.
Summary: There are so many ghosts. (Prompt 83: steel & sapphire - Ghosts & Drabble)

Haunting )
thisbluespirit: (shadow - elizabeth/henry)
I made two things for [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks last challenge (Ghosts & Gore). Now it's over and I can post here, this is the first (well, actually, it was the second, but never mind):

Title: Company of Shadows
Fandom: The Shadow of the Tower
Song: Father's Day - Murray Gold (DW soundtrack)
Rating: PG (for the morbid theme)
Length: 1.55 mins
Content notes: Death masks (in case anyone else also finds them creepy) and general morbidity.
Vidder notes: From the 1972 BBC drama The Shadow of the Tower. Spoilers only for actual history.
Summary: Henry and Elizabeth, turning into mere memories and ghosts - and death masks.

Company of Shadows )

I had the idea for this and tried out five different short pieces of music for it and rather liked the result of one of the other ones and the way it immediately made it a different vid (that picked up another underlying theme of the last episode) so went back to it after and tweaked it a bit. So here's an additional/alternative version, less creepy (I hope) but sadder (and shorter). But I don't really expect anyone to watch either, let alone both. I was mainly playing about with some things I haven't tried in my vidding software (which is part of the spirit of this particular comm, anyway).

Melancholy Interlude )

(Sometimes I am terribly morbid, sorry. It just seemed to fit the challenge.)
thisbluespirit: (S&S - Silver sad)
Title: Persuasion
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 1281
Characters/Pairings: Silver
Warnings Possibly for manipulation? (Warnings for weird S&S ficlets are hard.)*
Summary: Silver always gets on well with pretty bits of technology.

(Prompt 74: silver - Angst & Manic pixie dream girl. With thanks to [livejournal.com profile] justice_turtle who explained to me what the cliché/trope meant, that Silver was one anyway, and wondered what I’d do with it. As it turned out, the angst won. Also my brain apparently keeps wanting to make pixie into pixel, which explains the following fic.)

This also fitted neatly into [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks's latest prompt, so I also wrote it for their Borrowed Title challenge.

*Me (at various points in different ficlets): Er. Um. Silver talks someone into doing something? Someone dies for a bit? There’s blood? Non-existence? And always: Is this shippy or not? *gives up and makes best stab at description/warnings*

Persuasion )
thisbluespirit: (b7 - Jenna)
Two things:

Necessity (All ages, 1038 words, Jenna/Steel, no spoilers.) For [livejournal.com profile] b7love_250. (Yes, look, I actually can write S&S fic without Silver in.)

And this feels like ages ago now, but I made a Phantom vidlet for [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks 'Performance Anixiety' challenge (thus earning myself a tag, hurrah! \o/): Twisted Every Way (Christine, Phantom, Raoul, 1.15 mins.)
thisbluespirit: (b7 - Orac!)
Before I forget again...

Orac/Nyssa drabble for [livejournal.com profile] b7love_250.

24 icons from The West Wing & Press Gang (9 text, 15 images) for the current [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks challenge 'breakfast'.

And, other than that, I don't know. Tired, but okay? Hmm, talking of one of my comms reminds me. I most post the discussion post on [livejournal.com profile] dw_straybunnies that I've had ready for a month or so. *notes to do later* (Lunch etc first.)
thisbluespirit: (Primeval - time)
[livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks had their second amnesty, and I was really pleased to see that they brought all the previous prompts back into play - v good for a slow(ish) person like me. (Also they have these cute achievement badge thingies now.) So I made things. It's probably as easy to link to the original entries as repost them:

12 Press Gang icons from the S3 ep 'The Last Word', for the Communication challenge.

Not Here (Ficlet, 500 words.) For the 'Anywhere But Here' challenge.

From 'Level 7' (an 1966 episode of the BBC's anthology series Out of the Unknown), much angst, but written to be read without knowledge of the episode. (Because it's unlikely anyone else will have seen it. Unless they're also looking for David Collings things on YT*. It just fitted the prompt so well. Anyway, I want a medal, because I thought it was impossible for my fanfic to get any more obscure, but look! I managed it! (They have a rare fandoms badge and a new fandoms one. I am so going to get those. Virtually all my fandoms are rare or non-existent. *smug*)

Second Take (Primeval ficlet, 635 words. Nick, Claudia, Jenny.) For the Do Over challenge. (This one was a bit last-minute, and a new fandom for me, but the show fitted the challenge, really.)

[livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks is quite fun, because it's open to all fandoms, and all sorts of creative works, and so people have cooked things, drawn things, made a telegram from Wooster to Jeeves and so on. It's quite fascinating to see what other people come up with.

*A thing which I wound up doing to find links for someone else, and amused myself with reading random comments about David Collings from people who don't have a clue who he is. I'm not sure what my favourite was. So many people are still traumatised by Charn from Through the Dragon's Eye, and I'm tickled by the person who thinks he sings like Michael Crawford in Scrooge (!), but I think I'll go for the person who commented on Elizabeth R with: "Babington's a babe. A really stupid babe, but mmf hmm..." Babington is incredibly stupid.

ETA: Just seen on my flist that Kathryn Joosten's died. I only know her as Mrs Landingham from The West Wing, but that's enough, because... Mrs Landingham.
