Beyond the Roundels

It's been warm on and off for a few days, so that's made things difficult and cut down online time (still not about to electrocute myself to talk to you all) and I had several things I wanted to post and now they're lining up alarmingly. I don't want to put them all in one post, so here's a couple of fannish things to start off with:

1. When I linked to Sesskasays's reaction to Earthshock the other week, I mentioned that my main New Who reactor was getting close to Fish Fingers and Custard, and I just want to report that she enjoyed it! \o/ (JulesReacts; I like her reactions so far, and she's very unspoiled, so I'm really happy that she seems to be taking to Eleven so positively. I'm not surprised, but she was heartbroken over losing Ten and Donna, so I did worry. She also loved the little post-ep minisode.)


Talking of Sesska's reactions, she is now onto Arc of Infinity and her combo of New Who & some general show knowledge vs being very unspoiled for Classic Who delivered a pretty amusing reaction when she spotted Colin Baker straight away, but was still hoping Five and Nyssa would have a proper discussion about Tegan leaving. XD


2. no_true_pair's prompts are out! You can still sign up, though. You just need to do it before you look at the prompt post.

I had some fun results - I signed up with a Doctor Who list, a crossover list and a Starfall (OC) list. I didn't really know who to put with the latter, so it's not as good, but there's still a little thread that's come of it that I think I can pull at, so that's hopeful. But I managed to come up with quite a fun crossover list & a nice DW one. Idk if I can actually post anything, but I think I can at least write some things in rough and see. It was a cheering thing that helped me get through yesterday anyway, and it was worth it for that alone.

(I'll probably post them, or some of them, but the downside of being greedy enough to sign up with multiple lists is that it takes a while to add all the names in to the list if I want to show you.)

It's a fic_rush weekend, so I kicked myself a bit and finally finished typing this up yesterday and editing it today. Written for 100ships prompt #23 (linen) and trope_bingo square "Sharing a Bed."

Anyway, I wanted to use 100ships to try and make myself actually write some ships I'd fancied writing and always wimped out on, and I've had the itch to do some sort of Eleven/Clara for ages, so it's worked out at least in this case. \o/

It's a remix of paranoidangel's Tea and Biscuits, because we just can't avoid each other in these things! Anyway, it was fun and I had plenty of options to choose from, but my heart wanted this one. I'd actually beta-ed Tea and Biscuits (and it was a gift fic for dbskyler, too), which is a little odd, but so far in my remixing, I've always gone for stories I've loved and that's what drew me to T&B quite quickly. I'm not sure what the key is (I'm sure you could remix almost anything with a bit of work and inspiration), but certainly a story that speaks to me, one I can say something in response to is maybe what that sudden, "That's the one!" spark is. Anyway, this was fun. I was little worried about effectively switching Eleven for Twelve, because it borders on going too far - but on the other hand, the Doctor is the Doctor, and I know Paranoidangel doesn't have an aversion to any of them. (Well, as far as I know!)


And I see that I have estirose to thank for the remix of my Dungeons & Dragons fic! (Madness is still unrevealed, although I do have a suspicion...)

Three ficlets - two Element prompts I wrote months and months ago and finally typed up (I have two and half more typed up and I'm not sure how many more lurking in my notebook, so I should get on that) and a hastily written bit of crack for cakefic (because there's only so long you can play about with random generators before something like that happens).

Also, talking of cakefic, I made a collection on AO3. As this isn't Teaspoon and I can't rampage about wantonly putting people's fics in my series without asking: if you are one of the merry band who've already committed cakefic and you post to AO3, please do add your fics. Otherwise I just look like a very strange cake-obsessive, though I suppose that's nothing unusual.

Also, if you weren't following the last post as closely as I was (it being on my LJ), the Random Cake Fic Generator is now absolutely a thing and has multi-fandom people you will probably recognise, thanks to john_amend_all. \o/

I found this writing meme I did once before and thought it was a funny sort of day, and just the time to try again. And I did it! \o/

3: I think you can see where this is going. Write a very quick 50-word half-drabble for each fandom (try to do it all in one sitting - make your brain explode!), using the line from the poem as a prompt. You don't have to include it in the half-drabble - it's just inspiration.

From the prompt: Written for August's Prompt of the Month over on dw_straybunnies. For juliet316, who asked for: There was a lot she didn't tell her Companions about regeneration, this was one not even she expected to happen. Or was it he now?.

I've seen a lot of fics that have the Doctor regenerate into a woman and have to deal with that. I just thought it would be interesting to have an AU where a Doctor who has always been a woman, suddenly ends up regenerated into a male body.

Um. I hope somebody writes one that's slightly more serious and less influenced by frivolous things... In the meantime, my apologies. I never thought my first Eleven fic would be something like this. What was I supposed to be writing, anyway?
