Summary: Padmé Amidala is an a former Queen without a planet. Obi-Wan Kenobi is a former Jedi Padawan who never became a Knight and doesn’t fit in with the AgriCorps. But sometimes, if you put two anomalies together, what you get is a force to be reckoned with.

I got so intrigued by one of shadaras's prompts and then suddenly there was plot all over the place, which is not helpful for straight-up Hurt/Comfort. (This was how the wingfic for MayThe4th happened. I decided to try and write a simpler, iddier fic instead/as well... and then it turned into something else anyway and so I gifted it to them in a different exchange.) /o\

space_swap has just revealed authors, so I can now share what I wrote. This one was for anr, whose prompts included "Padme and Obi-Wan run away with the kids and raise them together on some decrepit old star freighter that breaks down every other day" and so I wrote this. Which was (despite being too long for my current levels of energy) a very comforting and cathartic thing to be writing. And in the end, I was really very pleased with it.

(The only thing I wasn't happy with was the summary. I changed it four times, but everything else was worse than the original. Which was one of the nearly-titles, but I wound up taking it from this song.)

It was a fun fest, I really enjoyed everything I read or looked at that I knew, even though it was so tiny - Voyager, B5, Star Wars, Doctor Who etc.

As per the comm requirements, all contain some level of hurt, comfort, or hurt/comfort. With most recs being for "isolation" rather than the other two squares. (The squares were random selections, so I only accidentally got relevant). May contain a lot of Star Wars, because it's also a relevant square for when you're having an Obi-Wan Kenobi reading splurge.

So, in the middle of all this, I actually wrote another Star Wars fic, this one for halfamoon prompt "Legacy", allbingo square "Rose Leaf - You May Hope" and 100_women prompt "Mother", but I didn't post it here in the interest of not giving myself away with Prequel feels. Not that I imagined anyone would care that much which ChocoBox fic I wrote, but I was so obvious in Remix, I thought I should make the effort at anonymity this time. And you can't pretend to still be casual about SW while writing fic about Obi-Wan Kenobi's mother.

Anyway, there's a canonical tag for her and in the process of writing the other fic, I got curious, and this happened. Because there are different kinds of heroism, really, and I wanted to play with that.

(This isn't based on any actual EU stuff beyond Obi-Wan being apparently taken to the Jedi later than most - Wookieepedia has pretty much nothing on his parents or home planet that's still canon, and very little more even in Legends. He had parents, and his planet had grass. Probably.)

(I swear I 100% have no more Prequel fic up my sleeve, at least currently! Next up should hopefully be finally fixing my much-over due Yuletide fic, which is a very different fandom indeed.)

So, chocolateboxcomm has revealed and I can finally talk to the world again! When I signed up, I offered Padme/Obi-Wan (as I've done for a few exchanges where it's been an option) and then discovered I needed to offer two relationships, hovered on the point of deleting that offer (because I've never written proper SW fic!) but then added in Padme & Obi-Wan as well... and guess what I was assigned?

The long and the short of it is, I wrote Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon master and apprentice fic for dragonlingdar, since I liked their prompts, and, why not?

So... then I rewatched the Prequels, inadvertently had overdue fictional catharsis and broke through something, except I apparently also broke through my carefully constructed 15 yr old "I don't have SW Prequel Feels" dam, and I do have feels, okay. I've written 25k overall in three weeks, my tumblr draft folder has gone up to 100+ Prequel reblogs I was trying not to drive away all my followers with. (I have 57, which is very much not a lot on tumblr. I don't want to lose them and they mostly came for the vampire gifsets and not Obi-Wan Kenobi). ( I've been trying to pretend I was just having a bit of a resurrection of Padme/Obi-Wan feels, and be casual ever since. It's a lie. Send help. Or more beautiful gif sets. Either will do. /o\)

Anyway, that has very little to do with this fic, which was fun to write even if it had me permanently on Wookieepedia, checking everything and learning that every single pre-canon idea I had for early Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon has already been done. At which point, I decided I could write a bland missing scene, default, or just damn the EU and write all the ideas up into a five times fic, so obv. I did the latter. (It is one of those stories, though, where this is totally not what it was going to be when I started out and I'm still not sure what happened to that story. It just... went somewhere along the way?)

(The irony of this being the time that I finally got to watch Good Omens was also pretty funny, after waiting all that time and hoping I'd feel fannish about it like everyone else in the universe my flist. Yeah. Somewhere in between being drowned in my pent up Prequel feelings, I may have had an actual feel, like, once in episode 4? I enjoyed it very much otherwise, though. But the thing about stories is it's the right thing that comes at the right time for you, and what that may be and if it will come at all is unpredictable.)

But I wrote a little real SW fic and didn't die even though I put Yoda in it. And then I wrote more, including two treats I'll post later. (Although none of them have Captain Janeway and Obi-Wan on a coffee heist, so I will never again reach the heights of glory of my first attempt (but crossovers can never count fully). ;-p)

chocolateboxcomm has gone live and I have two marvellous gifts! I haven't even begun on the rest of the still-growing collection but it all looks very shiny from here, with around 1100 works.

Anyway, I have lucked out again, since my main gift is this, an amazing long Emma/Regina fic for OUaT that is a canon divergence reworking of S3B, in which it's Regina who goes to try and get Emma to remember and things work out in a way that Regina never expected (and isn't sure she wanted). Basically, it is really lovely with fairy tale edges but also spiky and awkward and funny and a bit painful in places, which is exactly how I want a Swan Queen fic to be and can so rarely find, and I love it.

On the other side, I've had a comment on the gift I wrote, and am very relieved. I don't think I've ever been so nervous in an exchange before as I was with that and the treat, and not knowing whether I could trust they were any good. But the recip seems to have liked it, so that is a great relief, and the important thing in any case.

I'm tired, and when I'm tired gifs happen. So obv. after the other day's disappearing into the Obidala tumblr tag, I had to fish out my DVD of Revenge of the Sith, find that extra for myself, and see what I could manage.
