I've been having an ongoing Once Upon a Time rewatch, and while I was in the middle of S3, I tried to find some good Tinker Bell backstory fic (or, indeed, anything). And so I did in the end, but it was hard going down there in the AO3 mines, trying to find a spot of fairy dust in an ocean full of big ships.

Which reminded me that I had a [community profile] genprompt_bingo square "Elves, Fairies, Pixies and Brownies" so I thought I'd rec the Tinker Bell pieces I found - and try and unearth some more Good Fanworks for the various fairies of Once Upon a Time...

I took part in Remix Redux for the first time this year, so I woke up this morning to find a lovely remix of (unexpectedly) the one Once Upon a Time drabble I'd written (some lovely perilous thing a gift for [profile] ramasi in [community profile] fandom_stocking).

Anyway, it's really lovely and takes a drabble I wouldn't have said had anything more in it, and expands beautifully on the original point. It's great (and not spoilery beyond Belle's first episode in S1):

Perilous Things (The Bright Spots and Dark Corners Remix) (2088 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Once Upon a Time (TV)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Belle/Rumplestiltskin | Mr. Gold
Characters: Belle (Once Upon a Time), Rumplestiltskin | Mr. Gold
Additional Tags: Remix
Summary:

Rumplestiltskin's castle is full of dangerous things.

(And to my relief, my remixee seems to like the fic I wrote, too. \o/ The whole collection is here and there are some other shiny things in it, too, including more Doctor Who, The West Wing and many other fandoms.)

I flipped through Yuletide Madness, and A-L of Yuletide2010.

Because they're rare fandoms, I don't know who will might be interested, but my picks so far:

One that should interest the flist, first:
The Curse of Fatal Death (DW comic relief sketch)
Sometime, Later in the TARDIS
2201 words, Teen (esp. at end). What the Lumley Doctor and Pryce Master got up to, post sketch. It's so funny and just like the actual thing. The Daleks' idea of being good, the Doctor infuriating the Master by... being the Doctor. *snort*
“Who would have thought that just as I was returning to Earth, the Daleks would try to invade for the thirty-seventh time?” the Doctor said.

More shiny treats under the cut - Fairy Tales, Spooks, Downton Abbey etc )

Also, my gifts:
Firstly, my Yuletide writer wrote me two lovely Chrestomanci fics centring on Janet and what she will do now she's been trapped in Chrestomanci's world as Cat's sort-of sister. (You need to read Charmed Life to understand, a book I recommend to anyone.) The first is probably reasonably accessible to newbies, but not the second. However, I am very pleased - they're both so well-done and there's sharp characterisation of Cat (despite his not appearing in it) in the second, and the first, aside from everything else, features a splendid new dressing gown for Chrestomanci, which is obviously the most important thing. (It's all in the books, okay?) Both are short, gen, and safe for all ages:
their fine incisions
best, Janet

And, also, lucky thing that I am, had two Yuletide Madness treats, too:
Changing Directions
Hee - someone saw my prompt and love of crossovers, obviously, and wrote me a great, unexpected AU cross for my Janet Chant request.

and, I also got a Blake's 7 (yay!) double-drabble, in which a Federation guard is unfortunate enough to encounter our heroes. (I love all those random guards with backstories, who usually end up dead in two minutes, even so...)
Rumours

I said, there had to be a sequel.  (And that's it, never fear).

Story: Happy Ever After Is Not The Problem
Author: Lost Spook
Characters etc.: Sleeping Beauty, Fairy tales (Briar, Ferrand, Alain, various Fairies)
Rating: G
Word Count: 5,439
Summary: Sleeping Beauty is about to marry her prince and live happily ever after.  Or trying to, if only things will stop going horribly wrong.

Edit: I have now altered the font size so that it can be read without a magnifying glass!  (Don't ask me what that was about...)

Always be polite to fairies, and don't mention the frog )

Another one for NYR 2009. Written for [livejournal.com profile] bookesque (In the hope that it'll still pass muster, despite not encompassing all of the request...)

Story: Once Upon A Dream (Sleeping Beauty)
Author: Lost Spook
Rating: All Ages
Word count: 5445 words.
Summary: "Things were much simpler in my day," said the King. "All we needed were twenty mattresses and a dried pea." On the nature of fairies and fairy tales.

(And no matter if the world wants it there's going to be sequel. Fairy tale weddings must be a nightmare, especially when this is Sleeping Beauty and you've got to invite all twelve fairies. As if the relatives weren't strange enough...)

One of my very favourite aspects of This Time Round has to be Storytime!  I wasn't too sure about writing for the creche (think Doctor Who crossed with rugrats or something like that.  Yes, mini-Who characters...).  Then I found out about Storytime.

Storytime! )
Snow White as told by the Master )http://www.ttrarchive.com/mastertest3.html

The Master got a bit addicted to storytime and tells Cinderella (the Brothers Grimm version.  Well, mostly.) in Sequelitis:
This one stars Polly, Ben, Jamie & Zoe and a lot of chickens.

(I should add that Douglas B Killings had already done Cinderella, so I was being cheeky...

I'm rather fond of the Master's Season 3 allegory (the slightly sentimental Beauty and the Beast starring Ten and Martha):

and a bit of nonsense as the Simm Master champions Roald Dahl's version of Little Red Riding Hood, (starring Sarah, Rose and a Plasmavore).  Yep, that one:

My efforts pale beside lots of the others, so I'll carry on with my collection of Master stories before we go there.  Once someone's read Macbeth, everything else just can't live up to it.)

Hmm, one further appearance from the Simm Master in the creche so far in Rapunzel.  (Yeah, any excuse to throw Ten off a tall tower and blind him).  With more than one unexpected pregnancy...
