Beyond the Roundels

So, in other writing news, both my treat recip and the rainbowfic mod turned up to comment and make my day at exactly the same time a couple of days ago. (Why do things all come together when they weren't at all connected?) So then I was happy.

But justmarriedexchange has now had author reveals and so here is what I wrote - a gift and a treat, both in Doctor Who.

I got senmut as my recip, which was good fun - a whole bunch of relationship tags that I liked to choose from and also they were dizzyingly rash enough to request Any Tag. (You will not be surprised to learn that given the choice of any tag in the tagset, they therefore immediately got a variant of Accidental Marriage off me, ahem, ahem.)

Anyway, I had a nice, manageable idea for Three/Brig/Liz and I do love s7 so much... and then it just grew! How did it grow? But it was also a really lovely fic to have living in my head and I'm still really pleased with how it came out and I liked the idea of the alien world involved as well.

I was also determined to write a Five/Tegan treat for ceruleantactician who had requested it as well, and one of their tags gave me a fun idea, so I did this. (I could have done Five/Tegan for the gift, but this way in theory I could have both worlds. And also my idea for my gift was really not that long or anything... lol) Which means I would have liked to maybe have added a little more to this one, but hopefully it's fine and fun(ny) and sweet as it is, and omg, people not me requested Five/Tegan. More than one even! 0_o

Anyway, that was fun, and I seem to have read most of my flist's stories while we were all undercover! (I guessed lurking_latinist - thank you for the treat!! - and astrogirl, and at least suspected senmut, but I'm now laughing that I completely failed to recognise paranoidangel. Because I should always suspect paranoidangel by this time...)

But it was fun, even with that long wait in the middle! (Let's not do that part again.) And thanks as ever to persiflage_1 who beta-ed them both for me. <3

Thank you for creating something for me! I love all kinds of different things at different times, I love these fandoms and characters, and I'm sure I'll enjoy what you come up with.

All of my requests are for fanfiction, but if anyone is looking to make art treats, I'd love that, too. (I cannot draw and almost all of my ships are really rare so ♥)

1. I had to default on justmarriedexchange, but I noticed this morning that I have a gift already! And guess what? When I did some present-shaking, it turned out someone had seriously gone and written my cracky Servalan/Palpatine prompt! 0_o

I only hope I have the strength needed to read such an amazing and terrifying thing come the end of the month. (It's going to be a long month waiting, but I'm happy to see that my defaulting won't have cost me a gift at any rate. And it's complete enough in draft that I will finish it for the recip at some point anyway.)


2. For anyone looking for fannish distractions, the sunshine_challenge has started, which is like the Snowflake Challenge, but in July.


3. tardis_library is having its annual Reccer's Bingo if anyone wanted to sign up for a card and join in.

This is a fun old school ficathon (no exchange troubles here) where you choose a character you like and then choose 1-4 other fandoms you can write and the mods will randomly generate a character from those for your other character to meet (in a bar, hence the name). I wasn't sure which character to choose - I was going to have Obi-Wan Kenobi, and then I thought maybe Clara or even Jenkins, but then I decided that this was clearly the year to have Silver, so that's what I did (and chose SW Prequels, DW (12th Doctor Era), OUaT and Ripper Street as the fandoms. (I might regret Ripper Street, but I suddenly thought it could be really cool in this context.)


2. justmarriedexchange is now open for nominations! (Cracky marriage tropes for all! Or possibly if you're not me, romantic shippy marriage tropes for everyone but people who evilly contemplate nomming S&S!)


3. as is littleblackdressex which is for characters you ship with everyone/anyone. (The fandom bicycles, basically.) It's running at the same time as Just Married, so I won't be able to do it, but that does seem like a fun idea. (I definitely have some characters like that, though - Silver, Ruth Evershed, Clara Oswald, Obi-Wan Kenobi...)


4. hc_bingo have got the last of their Amnesty challenges running (with no obligation to take part in any other aspect of the bingo) - the May Small Fandoms challenge, where you get a bingo 'stamp' of four prompts and you create something in a small fandom using 1-4 of those prompts.

I got one with "mind control/possession," "orphans," "deadline/time bomb," and "sensory deprivation" and thought, hmm, this is that Copper fic I wrote for hc_bingo proper a while back, minus the orphans. At the moment, I'm thinking of using Dracula (TV 1968) as I have an idea and that should be under the 400 limit (which S&S probably isn't any more).


5. And, on top of all that, unconventionalcourtship is deciding when to have its next round. (UC is a lot of fun - you take a Mills & Boon type romance novel summary and turn it into fic, either straight or with a lot of ridiculous and subverting and as gen or shippy as you wish. With bonus fandom book covers.) It's in summer, so I suspect that'll be out, but I do love it, so we'll see. (I have a perfect summary for Obi-Wan/Padme and an idea, but OTOH I have now written that a lot since January and it was tiring so someone should just write 10k of that for me.)
