Fanfic Meme answers (Part 1)
15 Dec 2019 08:35 pmAnswers to the meme so far...
From
theseatheatheopensea: 3.favorite line/scene you wrote this year
That is a very hard question. Probably for the next five minutes at least, I would say:
( this scene maybe )from I Do, I Do, I Do (The Month of Sundays Remix). Which was, actually, the very last scene I came up, I think even after it'd been beta-ed.
12. favorite character to write about this year
Hmm, that is also hard. I like writing lots of characters! I still enjoy writing Twelve a lot, and I got to write Jenkins once. And Janeway. She's always fun to do, especially in combination with the Doctor. (From DW, also Voyager Doctor is also good. I don't think I've written him yet, though.)
But probably overall Silver still, and also Copper. Although maybe Copper doesn't count if he is technically an OC?
14. a fic you didn’t expect to write
Ha, I think this is true of almost everything I write sometimes, especially gift fic. And doing this meme now sort of excludes Yuletide which always tops this category. I definitely didn't expect to write any Lucifer because I hadn't even watched it and it had sort of vaguely sunk way down the to-watch list. I can't remember what pushed it back up (a gifset probably; it so often is), but now I have written two Lucifer crossovers for
crossoverbingo.
Oh, I know - I did not expect to write his wonders to perform, a genderswapped Henry VII fic (not even SotT, too). I was doing a whole rec set to avoid writing that square for
genprompt_bingo! And then while making the rec set, I got inconveniently inspired by all the other genderswapped historical RPF. Luckily, it also fit one of my other squares and all was well.
From
ride_4ever: 8. shortest completed fic you wrote this year
That would be Immoral Support a 420 word treat for Chocolate Box with Bel/Lix from The Hour.
11. fandom you enjoyed writing for the most this year
I think it was Doctor Who, really. I wrote two x-times crack stories featuring Thirteen and it's been a while since I've done that and DW always lends itself to that kind of thing perfectly without ever feeling as if this couldn't happen in canon.
From
john_amend_all: 21. most memorable comment/review
Oh, all of them in different ways! Even the really weird/negative ones can be pretty amusing or genuinely helpful. I don't do a lot of episode reviews or meta really, and so a lot of my fandom discussions have always been in fic comments. Plus, I'm often pretty lonely and down about everything and appreciate comments even more than I used to these days.
So, on the memorable-for-the-wrong-reasons side, I should mention (after I grumbled about it) that the negative comment I had on "This World Is Double Till I Die", that, actually, once I came up with a reply, the person left me a nice comment back, so it was worth doing. And someone else (account now deleted, unsurprisingly if they left many comments in the same vein, lol), left me a comment as if they were marking an essay on Persistence in Porcelain.
In random, I got a comment on "blue is the colour" after morphing into
thisbluespirit by someone called thebluemartini, which made me laugh (and them, too, when I pointed it out).
And on nice comments, which I hug to myself, well, I got a bunch of lovely comments on the cracky exchange stories I did (♥) and some really sweet comments on several of the S&S things I did earlier in the year. I was still feeling really bad about "i love the rose both red and white" when I got this comment; there was that day when "the only game in town" (my self-indulgent snowed in Monopoly origfic! well, actually, it was for a hypothermia square in
hc_bingo, so it is a tad more dramatic than that) got a comment, a bookmark and a kudos all on the same morning and I found it was because I'd been recced! So maybe that's the best one because it led to me the rec which I kept reading to cheer myself up over the year?
But, yes. I had comments on a tiny Spooks ficlet that meant being allowed to talk about Tom Quinn and 2.5 again for a moment or two, on my OC elements S&S fic from way back when (♥), someone who went looking for Onedin Line fic and was very happy to find I'd written one ficlet and
pedanther having saved Vigil for years to read it and telling me so.
Anyway, I like comments. Thank you: ♥
23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t
I thought of a lot of things that died unwritten, maybe even more than usual. But the trouble with that is that I also can't remember what they were.
I did very almost at the beginning the year actually have a go at writing a Boardroom AU of The Shadow of the Tower but sanity prevailed again. (I have got to stop watching The Power Game eps next to SotT.) I still might do it, though. I imagined a better version while rewatching it this year...
I think I mostly thought of things and thought nobody would read them and I didn't have the energy to write them and oh well.
Oh, I did really want to write a multi-era crossover with all the Doctors and Jenkins from The Librarians but while I was trying to sort out how that would go (because the Doctor being Merlin would have to do it backwards and I wasn't sure I had the brain), I accidentally wrote Sufficiently Advanced Technology but maybe that was enough after all. (I don't know. I'd still like to try.)
And this has got a bit long, so I'll end this post here. To be continued!
