Starfall Stories 18
24 Nov 2023 08:43 pmTwo more
rainbowfic pieces! I'm very nearly caught up with myself now and these two are one brief POV viewpoint shift for the Portcallan arc - and the significant plot turning point I've been working myself up to very slowly for over a year.
Anyway, I titled that one stupidly while I was feeling in one of my nobody-reads-these-anyway mood (v insulting to the people who actually are kind enough to do so, but, you know, brains; they get like that), and because I stopped there for what felt like ages while I was writing the next piece in the wrong tense for weeks and feeling ill, I earwormed myself for a month and a half and counting and, yes, I am sorry for my stupid life choices, but not enough to find another title.
Name: Holy Ground
Story: Starfall
Colors: Vienna Orange #10 (an old world made new on the same holy ground); White Opal #11 (woolgathering)
Supplies and Styles: Paint-by-numbers from
shadowsong26 (it’s perfect because you’re here) + nubs + charcoal + gift wrap
Word Count: 644
Rating: G
Warnings: None.
Notes: Portcallan, 1313; Viyony Eseray/Eollan Barra. (A missing scene from the same night as Set Patterns.)
Summary: Viyony Eseray is exactly what Eollan has been looking for all these years.
Name: Point of No Return
Story: Starfall
Colors: Nacre #20 (How long did you plan on keeping this from me?); White Opal #20 (hope)
Supplies and Styles: Novelty Beads – Birthday prompt from
dray (I’m afraid there was no other choice) + Graffiti – 11 Years of
rainbowfic Part 9 (September Secrets)
Word Count: 3247
Rating: Teen
Warnings: Peril, injury.
Notes: 1337, Starfall Mountains; Leaira Modelen, Marran Delver. (Comes soon after Paper Trail, and we begin to get an answer as to why the Governor behaved oddly with Leaira. *\o/* This was, I think, the second piece I wrote (longhand*), so I’ve been sitting on it a while.)
Summary: Leaira finally understands one of the Governor’s secrets, much too late – or too soon – for either of them.
* I checked after: this is a lie, but not an intentional one. It was pretty early, tho.
