thisbluespiritI was watching Jeeves & Wooster and spotted, as I said, Downton Abbey in diguise as Totleigh Towers. Also someone who was definitely familiar that I couldn't place, who turned out to be Chloe Annett (Red Dwarf's second Kochanski). Pics of both under the cut.
Anyway, I'm enjoying it, as you would expect, although they have the most dizzying habit of recasting all the recurring characters (through necessity, I assume), with at least three Madeline Bassetts and Aunt Dahlias by now. The best one being Francesca Folan who starts off as Madeline Bassett and finishes up as Honoria Glossop, which is quite a feat.
Downton Abbey or Totleigh Towers?
Highclere Castle is just a wee bit unmistakable, isn't it?
Both shows even use the interiors as well as the exteriors. This sort of parcel-stealing would never have happened under the aegis of Carson. Well, not without Thomas catching someone and blackmailing them or something.
Chloe Annett from Red Dwarf as Gertrude Winkworth, mostly because I thought the 1930s style suited her. (With bonus silly faces.) I did not make the connection until the credits:
I should have added actual Jeeves and Wooster, but I didn't. Sorry. You all know what Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie look like, anyway. :-p
