Choose five series fandoms (no peeking before you choose them), list them, and then answer the questions behind the cut.
1. Once Upon a Time
2. Blake's 7
3. Doctor Who
4. Dracula (1968)*
5. Sapphire & Steel
1. Which is your favorite series from your list? And why?
Doctor Who. It's my forever fandom. It can be and has been and will be all the things at different times and has every chance of outliving me. And it's about an alien who can go anywhere in space and time in a thing that looks like a police box but is bigger on the inside, and is, overall, a happy-making thing. We're all stories in the end; let's make it a good one.
2. If you were to pair two characters from 1 [OUaT] and 4 [Dracula], who would they be?
As in pair them off, or just let them hang out? Either way, I don't think it should be Dr Seward; he finds vampires distressing enough, let alone non-existent towns full of fairy-tale characters! At least there's a good reason for the crossover, as we know any characters can find their way to Storybrooke eventually. If this is to be a romantic pairing, then Mina/Belle is about the most plausible. In the non-romantic way, Mina and Emma would probably get on, if it's just hanging out or teaming up to defeat Dracula. Assuming Mina's not a vampire at that point... (Still, Storybrooke's the sort of place where a vampire could settle down, provided she didn't do too much biting any more.)
3. What is one thing you’d like to change about 3’s [DW] plot line?
LOL. I don't think we'd call it a line, would we? More like a wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey thing. And whatever it is, it's probably been changed already by some means.
Donna's ending, though, I suppose, because unlike Jamie and Zoe (which was properly Tragic), that was unnecessary. But canon has addressed it already, really. And What They Did To Ace in the novels. (And What They Did To Everyone in the novels, pretty much. Part of me is still a grudge-holding teen when it comes to the novels.)
4. If both main characters of 2 [B7] and 5 [S&S]were falling off a cliff, which one would you save?
Leaving aside which character is the main character in either series - Sapphire and Steel are pretty equal in my eyes, and Blake's 7 is an ensemble show and if I have to choose one for convenience's sake, is it Blake or Avon? - I'd rescue whoever it was from Blake's 7, given that I assume an Element isn't really going to fall off a cliff and would probably vanish on the way down if they did (or, in Silver's case, possibly just bounce at the bottom), whereas the Liberator crew are all too human.
On the other hand, if it was Avon, I might save an Element if he was in a murderous mood. I don't want to go over the cliff myself...
No, wait, actually, since terrible things happen to a) all human beings who meet Sapphire and Steel, and b) all sentient beings (and non-sentient) beings who meet Our Heroes, do I have to be anywhere near this cliff? In the interests of my own survival, I vote for letting them work out who saves/cliffs whom while I skedaddle as fast as my short legs will carry me.
5. Which event was the most horrible for you in 1 [OUaT]?
This meme knows how to pick all the most inappropriate fandoms for each question, doesn't it? I don't think OUaT runs to horrible.
Oh, no, wait, in the underworld, in S5 when people get cast into the River of Lost Souls forever. That was unexpectedly mean for a pretty mild fandom.
6. Which is your least favourite character of 2 [B7]?
Heh. One of the things I like most about B7 is that every single main character is interesting and most of the side-characters, including random Federation guards. I can't even say Jarvik, because think of the lols we'd lose if we didn't have him.
Hmm. I don't like Dorian much? If it has to be a main character and you pin me up against a wall and make me, then I suppose I am a little less interested in Gan, like most of us. Poor Gan! (Give him some more hugs on the kinkmeme from me.)
7. What song reminds you of 5[Sapphire and Steel]?
As I vidded it (to varying degrees of competence), all the songs I used do, but most especially Dark Waltz. It may have been an overused song at the time, but it does have the right feel. (Across the Universe of Time has the most appropriate lyrics, though.)
And I have quite a lot of highly sheepish/guilty feelings about The Carnival is Over.
(All the songs that remind me of fandoms are usually from vids, or because I've used them in vids.)
8. Of 1 [OUaT], 3 [Doctor Who], and 5 [Sapphire and Steel], which is the easiest to think about?
This is a baffling question, but Sapphire and Steel invites the most contemplation because of being so very mysterious. But what the meme originator meant by that is almost as big a mystery. *side-eyes the question*
9. Are the protagonists of 2 [B7] and 4 [Dracula] similar?
No. I'm not sure who the protagonist of either is, or if either of them have one, but technically, for Dracula, that would probably be Dr Seward. Dr Seward is not like anyone in B7, especially not Blake or Avon. Everyone in B7 has grown up in a terrible universe. Dr Seward gets upset if you mess with flowers and faints when there are vampires at hand. I'm not sure what he would make of finding himself on board the Liberator with a bunch of criminals and rebels, let alone if he had to face Travis or Servalan.
I suppose he would be interested in Blake's brainwashing issues, but as a centuries out-of-date doctor, I don't expect Blake would be particularly impressed.
* Yes, I did fail to read the instructions when I made the list. *handwaves*

Date: 2017-10-18 09:26 am (UTC)That seems to justify my refusal to read the novels, on the grounds that they aren't canon and that life's too short. (With the exception of two that were written by an LJ friend of mine, Altariel, and are very good.) Don't tell me what they did to Ace, as I'd rather not know.
Talking of Mina, have you read the excellent graphic novels in the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" series by Alan Moore? She's the lead character and really "kicks ass" as they say. (Don't be put off by the inferior film that was based on them, in which she is reduced to being Allan Quartermain's side-kick. In the books, it's the other way round.)

Date: 2017-10-18 12:02 pm (UTC)They all have some good ones in - I don't know about the newer ones, because they do seem a bit of a pointless extra, and I think tend to be a bit more cautious than the NAs and EDAs, which is no doubt good in some ways, but means you are unlikely to get the heights as well as the depths.
I don't tend to read graphic novels much - they've always been out of my reach, so I've never got into them. But that sounds very good!

Date: 2017-10-18 12:39 pm (UTC)Ace was one of my all-time favourite DW companions, along with the first incarnation of Romana. "Battlefield" is possibly my all-time favourite DW story, for all that so many people are unkind (and I believe unfair) about the Seventh Doctor. That final series of Classic Who was so good that it made the long interregnum even harder to bear.

Date: 2017-10-18 01:04 pm (UTC)Oh, yes. I found, when I got the DVD and rewatched Survival that I instantly went back to a place of misery once it ended, because, yes indeed.
(If you like Romana, Gareth Roberts's Four and Romana Missing Adventures were always a lot of fun, if you ever wanted to risk hunting them down. I think most of the Virgin novels go for silly prices these days, because they're OOP while the fanbase has exploded.)
Maybe your local library has them or could get them through an inter-library loan?
I am pretty sure one of my libraries used to have a copy, but that was ten years ago, and they have no budget and ILLs cost money, and I doubt it's lasted that long! But I have so little brain to spare it's probably as well for the moment. (I am chronically ill now, but I used to be a children's librarian for my local authority, so I know it intimately. We have kept our libraries open, but we have few new books of any kind any more.)

Date: 2017-10-19 12:29 am (UTC)And I want to get defensive over the NAs/etc, but I'm also a realist and no longer 18 and reading the first new Who we'd gotten in far too long (and to be honest, Deceit was an awful book). Though I mostly didn't mind Ace Growing Up somewhat - and I feel a bit they keep hitting reset with her in the BF Audios, so at least the NAs let her not be sixteen?

Date: 2017-10-19 09:07 am (UTC)And, yes, yes, watch S&S! It is the most beautifully weird thing ever. If you can't get hold of a DVD, multiple people have it up on YT. Nobody ever knows what's going on in S&S. It's amazing. (The Guiness book of TV summed it up something like this, which is brilliant: "There are many ways of holding an audience's attention. Total lack of explanation is not supposed to be one of them...")
ETA: And, yes, that song is certainly the right kind of weird for it.
There are weird mysterious inhuman thingumies who stop bad things happening with time or try to, and that's Sapphire and Steel basically. Plus a lot of standing still and looking beautiful and scared.

I think you're smart to run from the cliff and leave them to it. Avon *or* Elements, it can't end well.
