Fannish Things

Some things going on at the moment:

Sign-ups are open (till Dec 15th) at fandom_stocking. (You fill in the form with fannish likes etc., the mod posts a 'stocking' post for you, and everyone fills everybody else's in the comments, and then reveal will be delayed by at least a week while the mod has their annual migraine.) It's very low-key and fun.


genprompt_bingo is open for Round 13! There are no deadlines & interesting prompts with a lot of options, which is cool. (I'm still plugging away at my Round 11 card from last year...) No festive connections of any sort, and all fanworks are welcome. (The prompts are gen; the fills can be any rating/ship/whatever you choose.)


The full list of Yuletide Requests have been up for a while, if anyone's interested in treating! (No sign-ups are needed for treating, no letters, nothing but being seized by a shiny prompt and gifting someone a fic in a tiny fandom of their heart. Well, you'll need an AO3 account, of course.)

(I defaulted, btw. Looking again at my fic only proved that I still cry at the thought of attempting to do anything with it, and so there was only one thing to do. Here's hoping my author is doing okay, and I shall try and be far more careful about what fandoms I sign up for next time.)


iconthat (which is a really fun icon challenge comm) is having an Icon Secret Santa (which I think is going to be run like a Fandom Stocking thing, not an exchange & probably even more unofficial and low-key.

Thanks! I have a couple of treats in the works already, so I shall still be taking part. And let's just hope my author is okay, and then I'll still get a fic. And my recipient will now get a pinch-hitter with a working brain, so everyone should be happy.

But, yeah. I've never had to back out on Yuletide before. *hugs back*

Aww, sorry you had to default (says the person who couldn't even get herself to sign up this year), but, yeah, that sounds like the right call. Which fandoms you probably should not have signed up for always seems really, really obvious once you find yourself assigned to write for them and not a moment before, alas.

And I just got myself a new bingo card and am already scratching my head over it. I'll post it soon.

Thanks. And, yes, sometimes it just doesn't work out. And I only added that fandom because there was only one request for it with lots of good prompts and two other fandoms that I knew on the letter. And then at the last minute, someone else signed up... /o\

Ha, yes. I shouldn't be mean, because it's a big thing and they don't have to do it at all, but it is also kind of amusing by now. And, hurrah! I must remember to actually go do mine at some point.

I think I'm going to default for the first time this year too. I didn't have any ideas for my request, and I'm so focused on finishing my NaNoWriMo project right now that I'd rather give it to someone who has more time and enthusiasm. I might still write a short treat or two if anything catches my eye.

Congratulations on defaulting -- I know it's a hard decision, but the button is there for a reason, and you should be proud of yourself for having the self-awareness to use it. I hope you are feeling relieved that you can now go back to writing for enjoyment. i'm glad your nephew's doing better, too!

Thank you! I seem to be on the way to some treats at least now, so that's something. But, yeah. (I just hope I haven't done myself out of a fic, but that I won't know until we hit the deadline - but at least I'll know before the archive opens!)

My nephew is still okay and, as you can imagine, is being carefully watched in the meantime!
