I picked this up in my travels over LJ:

Give me a story of mine and an alternate set of characters: protagonists, antagonists, or bit-players. I'll give you at least a hundred words of a scene that could have turned out differently.

(I don't know if that would be 100 words of actual fic, or I might just give a rough idea, or I might possibly just give up. Depends on how I feel. But it sounds interesting, anyway.)

It feels like cheating to take an "A meets B" story, and swap out one or both characters. Or an AU like your Season 7 ones where the point is the different cast. That disposes of my first two ideas :-)

So... how about UNIT: Transition where, rather than Colby and Crichton, Torchwood find themselves up against the Master and Charley (presumably, from their point of view, somewhere in the middle of Fallen)?

Funny enough I had just thought of one earlier today... what your 'Season 7 With Zoe' drabble series would have been like if it had been Jamie instead.

Alternatively if you want a slightly bigger challenge how about your recent 'Seen It at the Movies' Clyde/Rani story but with Genetical Annomalies Luke and Jenny instead? Always fancied seeing those two together as a pairing.

And if I was feeling really cruel and you're very brave... 'A Stitch In Time'. In The Stone Age. MWHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH!

'S7 with Jamie' was one of my first two ideas, too — one of the ones I thought wasn't really fair.

Certainly, just as with Wendy Padbury, there are interviews where Frazer Hines has said that he was asked to stay for S7. Presumably the lineup would have been Three, Jamie, Liz, in that case.

At the risk of taking over your meme thingie I've had another suggestion spun on by recently popping over to the This Time Round site and immensely enjoying your Leela on Blind Date tale. I've had the curiousity of you using this idea again to answer the all-important Second Doctor era question... when it comes down to it and he has to pick, will Jamie McCrimmon go out with Polly, Samantha, Victoria or Zoe?
