Title: time as it is
Author:
lost_spook
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 3408
Characters/Pairings: Silver, Sapphire, Steel
Notes/Warnings: Spoilers for Assignment 6.
Summary: Time is relative, after all, and some things are better when they’re broken.
For
astrogirl2 in the 500 Prompts Meme - Prompt 266: Take your practised powers and stretch them out – Silver.
time as it is (Link to AO3).
I have to say I didn't intend to write this prompt so soon, I certainly didn't intend to go back to Assignment Six and the ending, but apparently, some sort of remixing of that scenario (sort of) for
astrogirl2 is a regular April event now.
(Not really! I hope... It just started seeming perverse when considering this prompt not to use the obvious canon jumping off point. And I thought originally that this was v different. Now, I guiltily think that if someone had got to the end of Trick of the Light and sent Silver back to the beginning to try harder, you might get this. Though, with this fandom, that's not all that unlikely anyway... And I wound up quite liking this, so it stuck. S&S is beautifully weird, isn't it? That's my excuse. Or possibly:
astrogirl2, you are doomed to being connected in some way to fic around this moment over and over. I'm sorry. It must be an evil plot of Time. I'll send Silver round with some cutlery later and see if that helps. ;-D)
Oh, and the title is from something going round in my head that Google tells me is this:
For time, as it is, cannot stay:
Nor again, as it was, can it be:
Disappearing and passing away
Are the world, and the ages, and we.

Date: 5 Apr 2013 01:36 am (UTC)What's really funny is that I don't even remember requesting that particular prompt. I mean, I'm sure I did, but, well... S&S being what it is, I am now experiencing doubts about the nature of my own past. Heh. Well, it is a very cool fic, in any case, so I'm glad I requested it. Or that Time was altered so that I requested it. Or whatever. :)
I am impressed, by the way, with how many of these 500 prompts fics you've been doing. I, alas, have still only one small part of one long and rather hopeless story for mine...

Date: 5 Apr 2013 08:04 am (UTC) Well, you get assigned the same thing for S&S again this
You did, though, I promise! Or, if you didn't, Time altered your comment sneakily before I ever read it. (I just had to go back and check, because it's not like I don't misread numbers sometimes...) And it wasn't obviously A6 in itself, but when I started thinking about it (which, er, obviously, I did), it just fitted at that point too well. And while I'd done the remix, I hadn't done my own version. Once I'd got to the end of this, I was still not entirely sure I had. Ah well.

Aw, I'm sure yours isn't hopeless! (Unless you mean it to be, as in bleak?) And, thanks. I'm well enough to do some stuff now and still not having, you know, work or, er, anything else at all really, so it's impressive in that I do have more of a brain than last year... but not otherwise. Good luck with yours, though! More fic from you would be lovely, of course. :-)

Date: 5 Apr 2013 03:55 pm (UTC)That would be kind of hilarious! Although I'm downright nervous about the idea of even offering to write S&S for Yuletide this year. :)
And while I'd done the remix, I hadn't done my own version. Once I'd got to the end of this, I was still not entirely sure I had. Ah well.
Oh, however it resonates with your remix, I think you definitely get to claim it as your own version. Although, really, I think that's true for the remix, too!

Heh, no, not bleak. Bleak would be easier to write! Ah, well, that's OK. I can make my zombie ficathon story bleak. :)
,so it's impressive in that I do have more of a brain than last year...
Oh, well, improved brain is always a good thing! :)

Date: 5 Apr 2013 06:37 pm (UTC) I'm sure you'll be safe, really! I got to be the only person assigned B7 my first two years - I was a bit shocked this year to get a different fandom.
You could make the fic bleak? Kill off everyone? That should do it, surely?
I wish it was even more improved, but still, at least it's not less improved, yes. :-) (ETA: My brain, that is, sorry. I should quote more text. I mean, obviously, may you happily improve any fic you may be writing, but not having seen it, I can hardly comment...)
And, thanks. ♥

LOL! I'm not quite sure how I would do that. It would have to be very AU. :)

No problem, I knew what you meant. :)
