Icons: BBC TV's The Lion, Witch & the Wardrobe

You know when you're feeling pretty much better, but not at work and not up to doing anything sensible. Obviously, the only thing to do is to screencap some random DVD and make icons. So, here, the BBC's 1990s version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. (I did the first couple of episodes. I might do the rest, but only if people think it's worth it. Or I get really bored again. Anyway, this is a sane-sized post this time.)


Oh, and can anyone put me out of my misery? The theme from this is here. This is clearly taken from something I used to sing at school, but I can only remember random snatches of. If anyone else can tell me the actual words, or the title, I'd be less annoyed. ("Back into storyland oft may we go... but the giants are dead and the dragons have fled... [And now we fight] 'Gainst the dragons of anger and the ogres of pride" something like that. Seriously. I'm not going mad. It had three verses. And the words match up too well for the use of it to be coincidence. If I could remember them properly.)

Thank! Yes, that's the one. And certainly, the tune we sang it to was very, very similar to that used in the theme. (The only version I know of 'Fight the Good Fight' sounds nothing like the Narnia theme to my ears. But given the amount of tunes hymns have been sung to, we could be talking the same melody anyway.)

It was annoying me when I watched it a year or so back and as soon as I pulled out the DVD I was off again. (And, seriously, you can sing this to the theme. It's the middle bit of it they've taken from this song. And given the relation of the lyrics to the Narnia story, I can't believe it was coincidence.)

Edit I listened again. The beginning does sound a little bit like Fight the Good Fight, too, doesn't it? But every time it comes on I wonder round trying to sing 'When A Knight Won His Spurs".

When I saw the original post I thought, "Wait! I know this one! Last time we watched it, Dad said it sounded familiar!", but on reflection, he figured out in the end it was just that the same composer also did the theme for Brideshead Revisited. (Looking at IMDb, it turns out he also did incidental music for a couple of Doctor Whos.)

The website declined to let me in, but pedanther's version below is the one we used to sing to, and I think (despite the unusual choice of instrument there...) that you'll agree there are some similarities to the Narnia theme! :-D

Thanks, though - it was not having the words that was driving me barmy; I could remember the tune. But I kept muddling it up with two other songs & couldn't remember anything useful.

Yes, that one does. But that's Fight the Good Fight, not When A Knight, anyway. Am I getting really confused now?
