Maid Marian icons

I've no excuse for this, except my post a while back made me keep watching bits on YouTube and I thought 'that'd be fun to icon'. Except I have no DVDs and therefore, no screencaps, so went (appropriately) pillaging on Google... and retrieved all of... two relatively decent images. Neverthless, I amused myself and got 11 icons:

Date: 26 Nov 2010 04:15 pm (UTC)I confess ever since I keep looking at the episodes on YouTUbe. They really were great! It may or not be an awful thing, but being too young for the ITV epics, and much too old for the latest BBC offering, this is my Robin Hood. (Well, apart from the Disney cartoon... This is not good, is it?)
I managed to find two more pics, so I can add 2 more hasty icons:

Date: 26 Nov 2010 09:02 pm (UTC)And now I'm reminded of those CBBC programmes Tony Robinson used to do (back in the 80s?) which were basically just him wandering round various locations telling very involved stories that I assume he'd written. There was a multi-part one called (iirc) Odysseus - the Greatest Hero of Them All, and a one-off one about Boudicca, which I seem to remember being really, really good. I'm wondering if there are any clips from them on Youtube? *goes searching*
But yes, thanks for posting this, because it has brightened my outlook on this freezing wintery night quite considerably, really. :D

Date: 27 Nov 2010 07:57 pm (UTC)And, yes, I remember Odysseus & Boudicca. I kind of liked and hated them at the same time but had to watch them once they'd started (I always resented being made to listen to stories. I had similar problems with Jackanory.) I bet that they were pretty good, too, though.
Heh. Anytime you want a nonsensical fanvid, or bit of shameless nostalgia, I'm usually prepared...

Date: 29 Nov 2010 07:59 pm (UTC)Yes, I suppose stories are something that you should be able to take at your own pace, without hyperactive comedy types running around stonehenge or whatever... ;D I do especially remember being enthralled by the Boudicca one...I'd like to see it again, just to see what it was really like.
But thanks again - you wouldn't believe how many times I've listened to that theme tune (or maybe you would?)

Date: 30 Nov 2010 08:49 pm (UTC)Erm. Anyway... I'm really not sure - I have a feeling I actually liked the Boudicca one more than the other, too, but I can only remember lots of running about and shouting and me having to watch it once I'd started. I'm sure it must be on YouTube - cound to be! ;-)
Oh, I'm no good at guessing things...

Date: 30 Nov 2010 09:23 pm (UTC)Oh, it's bound to be!
Well, if your guess was "lots"... ;D
I see you've been posting the not-UNIT Silurians story too - haven't read any of it yet due to doing foolish things like signing up for ficathons and leaving it til the last minute to start writing, but I've been looking forward to this one for a while... :D

Date: 1 Dec 2010 06:51 pm (UTC)Heh, yes, I had to drop out of my last two ficathons, which was why I kept clear of this one. I think I'm a little more reliable now, so risked signing up for Yuletide (I find I'm better when I'm writing a prompt for someone in these things). There were some lovely fics, though - yours included. Now that's done, maybe you can get the Eleven fic done (more of it would be nice), and on with the Great Work. ;-D
Oh, yes. I wrote most of it ages ago, but because it's a bit non-linear I couldn't do anything with it till I had it completely finished. I don't really expect anyone to have the patience to read it, but I enjoyed writing it. It is funny, tho', cos the idea started with me being flippant about having a fluffy (not literally) Silurian story out of our conversation about me not bothering to watch Cold Blood. Or be much interested in Silurians. :-)

Date: 1 Dec 2010 08:28 pm (UTC)Yes, need to get back to the Great Work...and kill off Eleven (not literally! Although...why live in fear of being jossed? XD). And I think I was entertaining delusions of writing Xmas fic at one point, too... But no, nothing as big and long-running as the Eleven fic for the foreseeable, once it's done, not until the first draft of the Bore is finished, at the least. By which time it will be called Project 2011, I suppose...
See, so I'm good for something. :D I am going to read it, though. Soon. Maybe at the weekend. Silurians are kind of rare in fic (probably for the reason that, as you say - what do you do with them?), so it'll be interesting to see what you do with them. And to see more of the epic Webber saga!

Date: 2 Dec 2010 05:23 pm (UTC)Kill off Eleven? 8-O (But I don't believe you - you like him too much!) Well, wonderful as any more fic from you is, your last Christmas one was marvellous but also epic, so it's probably wise! How about a Christmas drabble? There's an outside chance of me actually writing one now, which I had thought was out of the question, but it depends on many things, so maybe it'll get done for the Christmas after. (Lo, an opening line came to me on Sunday morning during the service: "It was already snowing heavily when the angel appeared in Little Dellington...") Yes, how is the great work progressing? (You could call it Project 2012 and claim you have a fully outlined Master Plan for it... That should give you some elbow room. Isn't it shocking how years go by before you've had a chance to stop them?)
I'm not sure it's worthy of being called a saga. All the Webbers are a bit too prosaic for that... Sadly, I am more in love with them than the Silurians, I warn you now if you wish to attempt it. And, yes it came out of that conversation - I suddenly thought that the one thing that hadn't been done with Silurians was a fluffy happy story in which everyone got along and there were baby Silurians and children and what have you. I wasn't being serious, but then it sort of ... grew. It had Seven and Ace in it for a bit (being inspired by you) but it did not wind up being that kind of a story at all, and there is no point having the Doctor if he actually has nothing whatsoever to do... :-)

Date: 2 Dec 2010 09:35 pm (UTC)No, I'm probably not going to kill off Eleven... (Although it would be a silly thing to do, really, for a variety of reasons. ;D) The Bore is...sort of all right, but I need to concentrate on it more (well, duh, as they say!) It has been a shockingly short year, though. It can't have been 365 days really, can it?? Finishing the Eleven fic aside, any Xmas fic I write has to be done and dusted between now and Dec 24, I've decided, because after that is Bore Time, no more slacking.
Aw, fluffy happy Silurians... I look forward to reading it anyway, when I do get round to it, because Webber-love sounds pretty good too, really. :D
