Caves Extra picspam - Colin & Peter

I watched one of the extras on the new Caves. It was one of those clips from a chat show, with Colin and Peter, and I was expecting it to be mildly interesting. What I wasn't expecting was...
(And sorry, it was either edit and resize the pics OR do the picpsam.) The text is from memory or paraphrase, so forgive any errors. Anyway it's probably already on YouTube by now.
...Peter to walk in dressed like it's the 1940s or something:

Look who's arrived in the studio.

"Why are you wearing that?" Russell Harty demands of Peter as soon as they sit down (and you can't blame him.)

Peter: I was told you had to dress up for this show - formal...

Peter:... Actually, since I bought this suit, no one's invited me anywhere.

Colin: And I dressed like this to make you feel better. (You can't see it in any of my caps, but he is actually wearing light trainers with it, too.)

Russell says Peter played the Doctor like a public school boy-
Peter: I don't know why everyone thinks that. I'm secondary modern.

Colin (smug again): I went to grammar school! (He and Russell shake hands and both look down at Peter for having a lesser education.)
Then they talk to some alien creatures, otherwise known as Doctor Who fans, who dress up and go to strange things called Conventions. Yes, here they are:

They give Colin and Peter some fanmade stuff, including posters and a fanzine. Peter starts reading the fanzine, and then...

... steals the poster from Colin to have a look at it.

A Cyberman walks in. Peter (pointing to Colin): "It's him you want now!"

Colin: No, him!

By the end, Peter has nabbed all the DW fans' stuff.
I have this secret suspicion, after looking at a lot of Davison extras over the last couple days, that unless his outfit was theatre-related, he may have worn it in order not to let Colin steal all the limelight. Oh, dear...

Date: 15 Mar 2011 08:06 pm (UTC)Well, I am still ill and am well enough to do some reading and tv watching (plus, short bits of walking, knitting - I have to be strict and vary my limited activities!) so that has left me a bit tired for actually doing much online. My parents are visiting this week, which is lovely, but even though they are staying in a house elsewhere, it is still tiring, because talking to people tires me out quite quickly. And listening to them. However, I do think that in the next few weeks, I might start being able to tire myself out doing slightly constructive things instead. But it will be slow. I have set off my ME well and truly, but at least now I am well enough to start wanting to do things, whereas to begin with thinking about doing things wore me out...
And yet again: thank you for your parcel. It cheered me up so much and Life gave me something new to watch, just at the moment when I was beginning to be able to cope with watching TV again, so I am v v grateful.
Anyway, hope all is well with you - and look forward to a few weeks time when you are able to be back, and when I will be well enough/bored enough to be spamming my LJ all the time...
Oh, and the picspam: it was an extra on a DW DVD, a chat show slot in the week that Peter's last episode was shown and Colin's was due the next, but beyond that, there is no telling. Certainly no good reason is given for Peter wearing formal evening wear. Not that I'm complaining, because it cheered me up no end...

Date: 18 Mar 2011 09:58 am (UTC)I hope having your parents visit is doing you good and they're behaving themselves re letting you rest. :D Hopefully we'll coincide our returns to LJ, yes! I'm starting to get the vague itch that I should do something creatively fannish, but I'm not sure what yet... kind of good that I have a few more internetless weeks to get my act together.
I love a man who dons formal wear for no good reason. :D
