A slightly less delayed ficlet, written for one of my 100 Elements genremixer prompts and for the historium bingo square "Regret." (The historical setting isn't maybe quite obvious enough, but it's supposed to the 1950s and focuses on an earlier historical object, so I hope it counts!)

Heh, I had the ficlet already scribbled out and realised, on getting the card, that it would fit that square rather neatly. :-D
