The main Remix collection was revealed today, so I can admit that I wrote:

Summary: The Doctor always returns to Bannerman Road at the important moments. It's the timing that's so hard to get right...

It's a remix of paranoidangel's Tea and Biscuits, because we just can't avoid each other in these things! Anyway, it was fun and I had plenty of options to choose from, but my heart wanted this one. I'd actually beta-ed Tea and Biscuits (and it was a gift fic for dbskyler, too), which is a little odd, but so far in my remixing, I've always gone for stories I've loved and that's what drew me to T&B quite quickly. I'm not sure what the key is (I'm sure you could remix almost anything with a bit of work and inspiration), but certainly a story that speaks to me, one I can say something in response to is maybe what that sudden, "That's the one!" spark is. Anyway, this was fun. I was little worried about effectively switching Eleven for Twelve, because it borders on going too far - but on the other hand, the Doctor is the Doctor, and I know Paranoidangel doesn't have an aversion to any of them. (Well, as far as I know!)


And I see that I have estirose to thank for the remix of my Dungeons & Dragons fic! (Madness is still unrevealed, although I do have a suspicion...)

Nope, no aversions to any Doctors! Although technically speaking it wouldn't matter if I did, since you write a remix for yourself, not the person whose fic you're remixing.

That's true, but at the same time you don't really want to annoy the original author or break the rules! Even more inconvenient if we had to stop speaking - it'd be such a pain avoiding each other... ;-D

Oh, you wrote that one! I think that may have been my favorite of the remixes I read this time. And it doesn't seem remotely like going too far to me. I thought it was a really clever idea.

Aw, thank you! I have just been to check, because I had suspected that you had written my favourite of the other remixes, too - and indeed you did! (That was the one I was most excited about reading when it came out, because Cora & Regina! So messed up; so interesting.) :-D

And writing that one, it just struck me how differently it read, knowing Twelve and how much of Eleven's worries in it were still working their way out in Deep Breath, and it seemed such a natural flip, it was only after I was wondering whether it was cheating on the not changing the characters thing.

Yeah, I figured no one would be remotely shocked to find out that one was me! I'm glad you liked it. (Gonna repost it on my LJ shortly.)

And changing Doctors might count as fudging the "not changing characters" thing, but I think it's something you can maybe get away with. (I know I did it once, although that was under what I'd consider slightly special circumstances.) In this case, though, I don't even think it involved any fudging. You didn't change the events of the original story, or even which Doctor they happened to. You just added a new POV, which is beautifully within the spirit of remixing, while also being nicely creative.

Heh, you nhever quite know what story you'll land on when remixing, it's true! And I thought it was a clever take on it. :-)

Aww, I hope you do! It was both fun and a little odd to do - I think I've always picked fic that I've really liked to Remix, but doing one that was one I beta-ed and was a gift to someone I also knew, was quite weird. But then fun - I added in one bit particularly in case you did ever see it as well. (Because, after all, if the original was a gift, that was entirely in the spirit of the thing!) ;-)
