Back on the meme horse!

18. How many fandoms have you written for? How many have you been in, and how many are you still in?

So the meme saw me avoid this question yesterday with the writing one and decided, nope, I've got to go off and count.

*collapses* ~111, trying to not to count bits of Doctor Who and so on as more than one. Quite a few are only in crossovers with DW, though.

The main one I'm in is DW, and after that Sapphire & Steel, Blake's 7, OUaT, Spooks, Press Gang, AAL!, Star Wars and a whole heap of Yuletide things. But I like trying out writing for new things.


19. Has social media caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

No, not really, although it can sometimes take away from the fun of it, or make it very difficult to be active in that fandom. It's not that people were better in journalspace, because they weren't, but we weren't all smushed in together with no privacy in the same tag. Sometimes we couldn't find each other, it's true, but mostly, for me anyway, I could pick and choose which corners of fandom and which people I went near and which ones I tactfully dodged round/avoided like the plague. I never even needed to block anything on LJ, I just tried to choose wisely and kept my head down as much as I could.


20. What fandom broke your heart?

Up until last year, the answer to this was either none or all the angsty ones that break my heart in the best possible way that I love them for (B7, Spooks etc. etc.).

Then "The Timeless Children" happened and I found out I could break my heart over a fandom. Luckily, it was not as permanent as I feared and I have managed to tape it back together (with sticky-backed plastic obv) and I am okay as long as I don't poke at the wound too much. I'm done with Chris Chibnall now, but, happily and thank goodness, not with the show, or even with Thirteen & Co.

Regarding Doctor Who, did you watch this year’s New Year special and do you think you’ll watch the upcoming series? I didn’t/won’t be.

I watched bits with the Doctor and Jack, and the fam and fast-forwarded the rest. It was a lot more enjoyable that way. I liked it so much I almost stopped fast-forwarded, but as soon as I did people exposited boringly and so I buzzed it on again.

I will probably do much the same to the CC eps, and watch eps that aren't by him, I expect. I'm not very good at not watching them, even if it would be sensible at this point.

Oh, I've never had it with DW. It's my one true fandom! There's too much of it to nope out because I don't like one showrunner after all these years. There'll be another one along soon!

Yeah, I haven't been really excited about Doctor Who during the Chibnall era. At least it's ending.
I do enjoy Big Finish stuff though, so I've been enjoying classics as my library has them.

It is ending! And my first solution was just to hide in some of my old Big Finish stories. I picked up a few of the earlier ones, as you can get them v cheap as downloads off their website as well.

Just another 89 fandoms to write and you'll have a nice, round 200! By that time the Master will have come out of the shower to have declared it all a dream.

B7 is infamous for it. So is Sapphire and Steel, really. Thouh my headcanon is that Silver was always intended to get them out.

It's not just your headcanon! It's Word of God - PJ Hammond says exactly that on the commentary for the last ep on the DVD. (He also talks about how Assignment 7 would have had some more elements and how sad he was not to do that and when he says their names, he sounds like he knows what they're like somehow, and then I was also very sad, because I would have loved more elements too!)
