Festivids!!

Just a flaily drive-by post because here is a cheerful thing - festivids is live!!

I have watched about 3 or 4 vids so far, but there are plenty of things to appeal to people in these parts. There is another beautiful Ghosts vid (which inevitably made me tear up a bit halfway through, from which you can tell the tone is perfect <3) but the reason why I am posting now is first and foremost:

There is an Assassination Bureau vid! So now I can point to it and go: look! see! this is why you must watch this film! it is a film with all the things. <- /points

I mean, as if "Diana Rigg is a journalist who hires Oliver Reed to get his own assassination bureau to assassinate him and then they have a giant assassination chase across pre-WWI Europe while she tries to report on it. shenanigans go down." was not enough on its own, pfft.

anyway, that is one nice thing. festivids!

Aww, the Ghosts vid is indeed super lovely!

There are also 3 Taskmaster vids, of which the Rubber Duckie one is perfectly silly and the Butterflies & Hurricanes one is definitely a darker take but also really cool!

I am soo glad they continued the festivids tradition of having a new lovely Ghosts vid each time! And this was definitely another excellent one. I was thinking I'd totally got over Mary, but as soon as I could tell the vid was approaching that aspect I realised I was not, not quite. <3

I did watch the Rubber Duckie one yesterday; that was great. I also enjoyed the Loser one very much with everyone messing up this morning! I haven't watched that Butterflies one yet because the tags are totally scaring me, lol. I will, though! XD

Nod. I forget if it was the spoiler tag or the lyrics that tipped me off what was coming, but that was definitely a burst of sadness/poignancy.

I haven't watched that Butterflies one yet because the tags are totally scaring me, lol.

The tags on that one also made me apprehensive, but it's glorious! The creepiness implied in the tags is accomplished through tense music, fairly subtle effects, and juxtaposition of images/clips, so it still felt like Taskmaster, just with certain aspects played up, if that makes sense? The overall effect is "haunting"; I've watched it like 4-5 times now, haha.

I enjoyed the "Loser" vid as well -- the opening sequence, especially, and just lots of great choices of failure in the rest of the vid, and some very clever lyrics/clips match-ups, but the "fake but realistic gore" was a bit much for me, actually, and also even the tiniest clip of Romesh rubbing hot sauce into his eyes is too much just in principle XD

Hah, I had no memory at this point of what Romesh was doing at that part and TM fake gore I can live with. I'll make sure to check the other out soon, though.

Oh wow, The Assassination Bureau! That is a wonderful vid and now i have to go watch that wonderfully bonkers film again, it’s years since I last saw it.

I only watched it at the beginning of the year! I was just all: how did I not know this existed? And now it even has fic and a festivid! Amazing. (I take all credit for it by breaking open the fallow ground of AO3 with my inevitable daft ficlet of a reaction obv. XD)

I'm just looking at your icon and even though all my Biggles-knowledge comes from osmosis, I suspect that it is probably all too appropriate for one fandom as for the other.

There was an ENTIRE WEEK last September where I was caught up on Ghosts before S4 started airing in the UK. 🙃

Awww! I hope s4 reaches you aspa. It's so frustrating - I get it a lot from the US-UK side with many things. You almost get glad when they finally stop so you can CATCH UP. (If you haven't seen s4, that vid is quite spoilery, so only watch it if you don't mind spoilers.)

Click my festivids tag above, though - they've had at least 1 wonderful Ghosts vid every year with the fest, and you will be absolutely safe with the rest, if you haven't watched them already. <3

It really is! I saw from the tags in my bin a few weeks ago that someone had made a festivids entry for it - and it did not in any way disappoint. It's such a busy film I had wondered how easy it would be to be coherent, so I am doubly impressed, plus really great timing from the vidder.

Well I have now ordered TheAssassination Bureau - and somehow I have the feeling that that is *exactly* howearly 1900s Europe was.

As for Ghosts, it's time I bought the lot and I must see if our DVD store has a box set tomorrow, before we lose it forever in a few weeks' time.

Hah, I hope you enjoy it! I discovered it on one of our FReeview channels early last year and was amazed noone had told me such a thing of such ridiculousness and joy existed.
