7. From [personal profile] sovay: What happens when Silver is requested by Robin to organize a surprise party for Lucy?

This is odd but sweet! So, Lucy goes to Button House in the late 19th C to solve a mystery, Robin has a crush and asks one of the only beings in the universe who can actually see him to organise a party. I'm not sure that Silver is really the best person to trust with running a party, but Steel does claim that technicians don't have enough to do, and he would certainly throw one with plenty of streamers and tinsel and all sorts. Lucy would be a bit baffled by the random party and assume that her Uncle Charles must have arranged it, even though he tells her he didn't.

8. From [personal profile] hamsterwoman: Servalan, Ezekiel, the Cat, Lucy, and Zari are competing on Taskmaster. Who wins? who comes in last? What are the teams, and how do they get along? Which of the remaining characters is the Taskmaster and which the Taskmaster's Assistant?

The line up has Servalan in it. Assuming that she has, for reasons, condescended to be in this, she will swiftly procede to ruin the whole thing. I can only assume that the Taskmaster is Orac, which would explain what she's really after. It's a shame, because Lucy would be a great contestant and most likely winner, Ezekiel would be game, although would almost certainly try some cheating and not bother at the tasks that weren't cool enough, while Zari would be an interesting contestant who could either win or just spend the entire time rebelling, and the Cat would be hilariously uninterested in anything he's supposed to be doing, but it's not going to happen, because somebody selected Servalan.

I think the best solution is if Silver is the Taskmaster's Assistant and quickly puts everyone back where they belong before too much damage can be done to the timeline.

Katrina, the Twelfth Doctor, Hercule Poirot, and Orac have to do a group project for school. How do they work together and what's the result like? Who (if anyone) takes charge of the others, who is slacking off, who cheats on their portion, freezes up during the class presentation, etc.

Unfortunately, they all try to take charge and they all know how to run it best, and hardly any of them listen to the others very much. Orac slacks off because it is doing something else and uninterested in this unimportant organic project. The Doctor gets fed up and cheats. Katrina is outraged about this. He's supposed to be a lecturer! What kind of example is such unethical behaviour to his students? I don't think any of them would freeze up during the presentation, but the Doctor might run off partway through to do something else, leaving Katrina to step in. (Not that she's expecting a medal or a statue or anything, but this whole project would have fallen apart without her.) Poirot isn't keen, but does his part of the research thoroughly and without fuss, ditto his presentation (with everyone carefully assembled to hear it) and does not cheat. He then goes away as soon as he can. He's already had bad experiences with Katrina and the Doctor. Orac fascinates him, though.

Uljabaan, Robin, and G'kar decide to go see a movie together. What movie do they agree to watch, and what is everyone's opinion on it after?

Deeply weird lads night out? The movie will have to be screened at Button House or Robin won't be able to be there, but Uljabaan can arrange that sort of thing. I don't know what they agree to watch, though - definitely something with a fair amount of action, which is probably the one genre you could get all three of them on board with. Any other type of movie would cause a lot of arguing, although Robin and G'kar might get surprisingly well together. If they can see each other. Uljabaan almost certainly won't be able to see Robin, so actually, this is really just a question of what Uljabaan and G'kar would watch together, which is even harder to come up with. Maybe something Uljabaan has found during his human research project and thinks other aliens might like to know? It could in that case be something weird, like an ad compilation on YouTube that Lucy Alexander showed his Computer. Honestly, they'd probably all be more down with that than a film.

9. From [personal profile] persiflage_1: Twelve, G'kar & Zari get in a fight with Servalan - what happens?

The Doctor, G'kar and Zari are overkill even for Servalan, so she suffers a temporary defeat. The three of them should count themselves lucky they don't actually live in her universe, or revenge would happen sooner or later.

Silver & Robin fall in love - is it a disaster or a happy ever after?

I suppose it could be quite lasting, all considered. It seems extremely unlikely to work out, but OTOH, if it did, it would explain a lot about what's been going on in this meme between the two of them. An occasional meet-up between a ghost and an element? It could work, although more as an odd friendship than a romance, I think. Not that Silver doesn't flirt with everyone, it's true, and Robin is fairly equal opportunities on that front. Basically, whatever happens, no one else will ever know.

Servalan, Cat & Lucy get sent on a quest - do they succeed and does anyone die along the way?

If Servalan's on a quest, then, yes, people die. Many people die. She and Lucy obviously succeeded, and well enough to go on a clothes shopping spree afterwards. However, Cat's mysterious disappearance from the list has raised some deeply worrying suspicions in Lucy's mind, and she will probably be gone with the Quest Object before Servalan has finished trying on something flamboyant in white feathers.

10. From [personal profile] graycardinal: Ezekiel and Robin are next-door neighbors in a quaint English village. How well do they get along, whose garden is better-kept, who spends more time in the local pub, which one will the locals suspect if Death is found horribly murdered behind the church, and what even-numbered character would actually have committed the crime?

Robin does not spend any time in the local pub, because he can't leave Button House. He also can't do gardening because he's a ghost. He could technically possibly kill someone via his abilities with electricity, but I don't think he could kill Death that way.

The trouble with killing Death is that I'm not sure anyone could do it, and the only three even-numbered characters who might possibly manage it, wouldn't do it. Silver probably couldn't do it (I think it would take an operator), but it's the last thing he'd try to do anyway. The Doctor metaphorically defeats death all the time, especially Twelve, but he's not exactly going to go round murdering a perfectly reasonable personification of the concept. Even Orac, who might actually be able to pull it off, wouldn't do it, because it has its limits and the end of the world seems to be one of them, going by a couple of canonical incidents. It would have the capacity to calculate what would happen if organic life wouldn't end, and it wouldn't be okay with that. In any case, if one of them killed Death, Death would then simply not exist and there would still not be a regular murder enquiry.

Death must therefore be faking it. Probably lying there with a "HELP I'VE BEEN MURDERED" card in his hands and a dagger sticking through the bones of his ribcage, but since he is either not quite visible to people or just looks like a very very dead person indeed, they'd probably just invite the archaeologists back to Button House to see if he was another plague victim. (Sometimes it's really hard work to be Death and not able to pull off your own murder. He tried.)

Ezekiel might well go down the pub, especially if the clippings book has sent him here to investigate magical activity in the grounds of Button House, as he'd want to ask the locals questions. Barclay bores him solid about the weird couple next door. Ezekiel might qualify as being able to see ghosts (or not; how does it work with virtual deaths?), and if he can, he might think Barclay's not that far wrong about the weird neighbours. The only gardening he would do would be for a cover while looking for things.

Basically, I just don't think this is going to pan out in a typical Miss Marple scenario, whatever else happens. Death gives up and goes away. Ezekiel can't find any magical activity as such, just ghosts. He shrugs and goes away. If any even-numbered characters are committing crimes, maybe Katrina's trying, idk, eco-terrorism or something, but she's not going to be very effective. If Orac or Silver are committing crimes, nobody will know anyway. Lucy would solve the crime, but not commit it. G'kar would do the ecoterrorism thing way better than Katrina, so maybe he commits the crime in showing her how. The Doctor would be happy to steal things, if that would help. He'll then be falsely arrested for the murder, because that is how his life tends to go.

Katrina, Silver, and Cat are performing as a folk trio in a TV musical competition. Are they any good, what sort of folk traditions does their music draw on, and can they get through the experience without actually trying to kill one another?

Katrina's not saying that this band would have got absolutely nowhere if she hadn't appointed herself as manager, but, all right, she is saying that. Not that they got very far as it was, but any credit for what they did achieve is hers, actually. Silver kept claiming it was too dangerous to sing folk songs while trying to get Cat into the right genre caused her to pull her hair out. She's not sure if the fact that they both can sing made it more frustrating or less. She'll let you know when she's over Uljabaan her mother Lucy Alexander her Dad everybody in Cresdon Green reminding her several times a day about how the trio bombed out on the first episode and they only got that far because the TV company wanted the lols, and, well, possibly also for reasons nobody can explain, just like nobody knows where Silver went to afterwards. The judges did at least say that Cat might do well on a different music/dance competition, and he's taking that as a win, plus you should have seen his outfit. He doesn't know why Katrina's so down about it.

They wouldn't actually try to kill each other, though, so there is that. Some people on this list would have done.

11. From [personal profile] liadt: Robin & Poirot have to clean Orac's place, what needs cleaning out and why?

Given that Robin can't touch anything and would not be especially great at cleaning in any case, and while Poirot is big on cleanliness he's not exactly big on doing the cleaning himself, it's probably as well that this is Orac and therefore he just needs his circuits dusting & a good virus sweep or something, which Poirot can probably manage.

Of course, on the downside, this is Orac and if his circuits also need clearing of digital junk, this generally equals possession and malice. The world could well be ending, and I don't see either of these two (not even Poirot, sorry M. Poirot) being capable of sorting out its technicological issues. The world probably ends here.

12. From [personal profile] quailfence: Servalan, G'kar, and Dr Seward have to live together for a year, how does it go?

There will be murder and it will be committed by Servalan. RIP Dr Seward; it was probably as well. He'd have turned faint with disbelief every time he had to talk to G'kar anyway. I'm not sure whether even Servalan would be successful at getting rid of G'kar, but OTOH, she's not going to live with him for a whole year and she is pretty lethal. RIP G'kar. I'm sorry. The meme did not select a housemate anyone could actually live with.

So, basically, Servalan has the house to herself for the rest of the year. It goes fine, as far as she's concerned, despite the tragic loss of both her housemates.

Out of Uljabaan, Robin, and Death, who is the most likely to beat Lucy at arm-wrestling? Or does Lucy beat them all?

In the normal way, resourceful as Lucy is, I don't think arm-wrestling would be her sport, but in this case, I think she might win out. Robin is pretty good at arm wrestling, but he's a ghost. He can't touch anything or anyone and therefore could not beat Lucy at arm-wrestling. I'm confident Lucy could take Uljabaan one way or another. She would lose to Death, but I'd like to think that - given the circumstances under which anyone plays Death at any sort of match - that she would somehow nevertheless win. Besides, if she lived in the Discworld, she would definitely be a witch. She has all the right instincts for it. Lucy unexpectedly is now meme arm-wrestling champion. Yay?

Katrina and Poirot are going to the movies. What do they pick?

I'm not sure how much she and Poirot would enjoy their trip. They're both pretty nitpicking and opinionated about quite different things. I feel like Katrina would unwisely try to pick a murder mystery film and beat him to working out whodunnit, but Poirot would have a low opinion of plot, detective and historical accuracy in depicting the Thirties. (It was not like that.) It might go ok if Poirot was too gallant to contradict a lady as much as she probably ought to be contradicted. And Katrina does deserve a nice night out. Even if it's with a fictional detective, which means it was either a trick of Uljabaan's or the whole alien invasion thing is finally getting to her, or she's just eaten something belonging to Lucy Alexander and is hallucinating things. (Idk, Gosford Park maybe? What came out post 2012 that Katrina might have wanted to see?)

Ezekiel Jones and Zari have swapped bodies. What happens?

Ezekiel loves the Wave Rider and his new powers, but he isn't going to settle for being anyone who isn't as amazing as him for very long. He tries to tell the Legends. They lock him up while they argue about whether or not to believe him or if Zari's just trying it on.

Zari Tomaz is less than impressed with being dumped in a giant Library with a bunch of people even sunnier and more improbable than the Legends, but once she realises there's actual magic here, she starts looking for an artefact to use to change her past. If your time-travelling colleagues won't help you, why not rob a Library? Nobody's going to miss one of these, right? She and Ezekiel both have similar levels of technical know-how and are willing to break the rules, so it could take a while for rest of the team to notice. Once they do, though, I'm sure they can find a way to put it right - as long as the Legends don't do anything simultaneously to screw their attempts over. Which they probably would. It could take longer than either Ezekiel or Zari would like to finally put them back in their rightful bodies.

(Weirdly, Ezekiel and Zari have a very specific spoilery thing in common. Maybe that's how the bodyswap happened.)

Silver and Twelve have to take care of a baby for 48 hours, how well do they do?

That isn't the worst baby-sitting team you could have picked, but it's not exactly the best, either. Hopefully, between them, they will be able to more or less remember the baby, not imperil it too much, and possibly even recollect that small mortals need feeding, changing etc., but it does beg the question of just whose baby is this? What danger does it pose to the timeline? And with Silver involved, you'd better hope the Doctor can make sure this ends happily. (Dead infants are not a thing that elements are actually here to prevent, see Assignment 3.)

Cat, Lucy, and Orac are playing a board game of you choice. Who wins? Does anyone quit?

Space Snakes and Ladders. Cat might well quit, but as long as Lucy keeps on playing, board games are canonically one of the few ways of distracting Orac from doing things like driving the space ship into a black hole just to see what happens. It's fine! The one safe way to entertain Orac in a meme, congratulations! (Just. Don't stop playing, because that IS when Orac will drive the spaceship into a black hole.)

I think Lucy's canny enough to let the dangerous computer box win.

13. From [personal profile] lilalanor: Zari, Twelve and Ezekiel travel back in time. How does it go?

LOL, congrats on managing to select both of the two full-time time travellers on the list! So, basically, as far as the Doctor and Zari are concerned, that's just Monday, not even Tuesday, although presumably a slightly more chaotic one than usual if it involves not only both of them but a Librarian along for the ride as well. Ezekiel's already canonically time travelled at least once and will be fine as long as he knows he doesn't have to take the long way back, which, notwithstanding the perils of Time Lords and Legends, ought to be doable. I would like to watch this episode, though. It would definitely involve a lot of randomness and probably competing for possession of a magical artifact that both the Legends and the Librarians are simultaneously trying to neutralise while the Doctor rolls his eyes, is sceptical about magic, and finds the artifact first anyway.

I think these made me laugh even harder than the last batch. Orac needing a cleaning leading to the end of the world! Difficulty getting Cat to stick to the right musical genre! Servalan killing all her housemates! Death unsuccessfully faking his murder! I think the one that gave me the biggest LOL, though, was Orac as the Taskmaster. God, he'd make Greg look like a pussycat. And of course that's what got Servalan there, and of course she's going to instantly derail everything.

So much fun. We really should do this more often. :)

Oh nooooo XD The inadvisability of putting Servalan on Taskmaster aside -- I also thought of Orac for Taskmaster once I'd seen your list! Just the right combination of petulant, cranky, and powerful, somehow XD

I also readily believe that Orac would slack off during a group project.

although Robin and G'kar might get surprisingly well together. If they can see each other.

I was just thinking that, too! Because they both kind of come across as brutes when people aren't looking too closely at them, but both are much more intelligent and philosophically-minded than they appear. And I figure G'Kar has a good chance of seeing ghosts -- he must've had at least one near-death experience, plus the spiritual bent. I actually really want to see them hang out now!

Death trying to pretend he's been murdered is hilarious! and yes, probably not very effective XD

Orac and therefore he just needs his circuits dusting & a good virus sweep or something,

It occurs to me that Robin's ability to manipulate electricity makes it so that Orac might actually be a physical object he can affect! Although probably less in the "putting in order" way and more in the "messing up dramatically" way, admittedly XD

Also really amused that Orac got picked for the playing a board game.

that means it's still going to be centuries before poor Robin gets sucked off.

That is true... I guess Robin is at least likely to be philosophical about it, and it's still a lot shorter than his existence to date. And just think of all the new alien languages he might be able to learn if he sticks around long enough for Earth to encounter aliens!
