30 Days of Telly Meme - Day 18 & 19

I'm about to finally be caught up.

Day 18 - Favorite title sequence:

Now, while Doctor Who obviously has the best theme music of anything anywhere, and probably should win this, I decided to go for:

The X Files intro (and, sorry, this was the best version I could find!)

It sets out to be as scary, weird and indefinable as an opening set of titles can be and pretty much succeeds on both the visual and audio. And, like DW, it's not your run of the mill theme.

Day 19 - Best TV show cast:

Probably any BBC Classic drama ever done should win this, because their line ups are always incredible. However, I vote for Spooks. Many shows by S8 & 9 would be flagging, but Spooks has always excelled in finding up and coming actors and attracting household names in regular, semi-regular and guest roles. A quick roll-call off the top of my head: Peter Firth, Matthew Mcfadyen, Jenny Agutter, Hugh Laurie, Keeley Hawes, David Oyelowo, Tim McInnerny, Anna Chancellor, Rupert Penry-Jones, Miranda Raison, Raza Jaffrey, Hermione Norris, Richard Armitage, Robert Glenister, Gemma Jones, Hugh Simon - oh, and Nicola Walker... Do I need to go on?

It's opening titles it asks for, not theme, or I would have. ;-)

I think that the X-Files don't bow to the usual US type opening titles and do what they set out to do about as effectively as anything I've seen.

Of course, nothing gives me a thrill like those McCoy titles that take me right back to being young, and not even knowing the meaning of spoilers, on those Wednesday nights at 7.30, when anything at all could happen... :lol: (Yes. I know. I pick the uncool DW title sequence, too. At least I'm consistent.)

Yes thanks. I just needed plenty of sleep without too much pain - my shoulder was very bad yesterday and Tuesday, but I remembered to take some painkillers in good time before bed so I was able to sleep better last night.

The X-Files titles were epic - I loved how they used the words at the end to tie into the mytharc episodes.

I'm in the middle of a rewatch right now. Such a good show.

Yes! I'd almost forgotten that - a sudden change of the words and it was a real thrill!

I must be due for a rewatch sometime soon, too. It's been a while and you can only go for so long before you start wanting some Mulder and Scully. :-)
