Rules: How many letters of the alphabet have you used for starting a fic title? One fic per line, ‘A’ and 'The’ do not count for 'a’ and ’t’. Post your score out of 26 at the end, along with your total fic count.

astrogirl, I went for the first fic for each letter, saving only once or twice where I really didn't want to, because it's not as if it's a rule in this meme.

W - Waiting For the Sky to Fall (Enemy at the Door, Philip Martel & Dieter Richter).

Y - you asked me how i knew (my true love was true) (The Lady Vanishes, Iris Henderson/Gilbert Redman).
Z -
That was an interesting way to go through the fic, and a pretty representative mix of fandoms, really. Most surprising thing to me was that I only have one work beginning with K. And that's 24/26, as I don't have either an X or a Z, but those are hard letters to casually have in your titles. I clearly need to work on that, presumably in the SFF fandoms, heh.

I did in fact think instantly of Sapphire and Steel. Also the first Z that comes to my mind is apparently "Zenith." No idea.

Everyone's plumping for the elements for that, and I'm sure they're right! :-)

Date: 2025-10-26 07:58 pm (UTC)And clearly for Z you just need to do what I did (in, like... 1998?) and write something with zombies in it.
Also, I definitely have to read "A Gallifreyan at Blandings!" Not sure if I missed that before, or if I skipped it because I hadn't read the Blandings books yet or what, but clearly I need to rectify that. After I've done the stupid household tasks I gotta do, sigh.

Date: 2025-10-26 08:38 pm (UTC)XD Thank you! Bleak Expectations is very ridiculous and I had to keep in tone with fandom.

I have several zombie fics, it's just that they're all called end of the world something or other and frequently involve biscuits more than they do zombies. But everyone else has pointed out that there are plenty of elements that could be useful, so there's that!

For some reason, I feel like you have, but idk why I think that? Maybe not, but then again it was originaled posted on Teaspoon and I think it did get recced on Calufrax. I'm still quite pleased with that one, though it's pretty old - pre-relapse certainly. I spent two weeks ingesting Blandings books and outlining the plot and then wrote 10k on the weekend while my brain was still flooded with Wodehouse!

Ah, if it's that old, likely I did in fact read it and then just forgot about it.
Honestly, now that I think about it, there really ought to be more Doctor Who/Wodehouse crossovers.

There should! Although Wodehouse is a hard voice to get, hence me having a strict Wodehouse-only reading diet until I splurged out a reasonable approximation back in the day.
