Then Do That Over: First Year Camp
(All Ages, TTR story)

 

Story Extract
Anyhow, why the log? OK. First things first, in case this is found
on my mutilated dead body (it’s a strong possibility with this year
group) I’m Fitz Kreiner – yeah, that’s right. Some lunatic author has
decided I’d make a great PE teacher. Could have its compensations,
but best not go there in writing. The idea is to save me the trouble
I had last year when I had to answer a lot of annoying when / where /
what / how questions about the murder / accident / explosion / missing
pupils to the police / A &E / Dr Holloway / Maxil / hysterical
parents. This year should any disasters occur they will be faithfully
recorded here, to the minute -.

First case of coach sickness. Luckily, Miss Maclay is also on the
coach with me, so left clearing up of mess to her womanly sympathy and
magical abilities.

Then Do That Over was thought up by Paul Gadzikowzki as part of the Round.  All the Who characters go back to school.  First & Second Doctor are in the top year and so on.  Which means that all the New Who lot are 11.  Except for David Doctor and John Master who are the Only Ten Year Olds in the school.  (Teachers are also Who, crossover and TTR characters, generally the usual versions.  Some of them did not ask to be teachers and are a little bitter about authors who think this sort of thing is funny.)

In this, they go on First Year Camp.  If I need to say anything more about 11 year old Jack, Rose, Chris Doctor, Mickey & co on camp with ten year olds David Doctor and John Master, then the story's probably not for you.  (Much of it comes straight from a top junior trip away from my own past.  Although we didn't get to go to Castle Spellerous...)

Plus, Fitz has suddenly found he's a PE teacher helping out at camp, along with senior staff Miss Wright and Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart as well as Miss Maclay (Tara from Buffy).

Even if you don't 'get' the Round (it took me a while), hopefully the idea should still make you smile.  Sadly, I doubt I'll write anything funnier, so it had to go here.  

There's info on the archive as always.  You probably should know that Maxil out of Arc of Infinity is assistant head and that all actual heads have so far proved only temporary.

This is BIZARRE. I haven't watched enough Classic Who to get all the characters, but I love Ten trying to be friends with the Master, and Martha reading a book and not listening to Donna but Donna talking anyway, and 'Killing Jack'!
Also, I don't know Dr Smythe but I loved this: Dr Smythe is still hanging around. Caught sight of the Brig and inexplicably went, “Hah! Hastings, Agincourt, Waterloo, Sebastopol! Honestly. Men!”

Thank you! Welcome to This Time Round. (TTR is where Who characters go when they're off duty to complain about writers, fan fic or just cause chaos; H G Wells School is only one of its off-shoots. None of them were my idea!)

I'd say come and join us, but if your Classic Who is patchy, that'd be confusing enough, without all the crossover types who have set up home there & a few original ones as well... The longest-running story-arc is that in which Nyssa kills Adric for fun. A lot. (Hmm. Can't make this sound sane, can I?)

'Dr Smythe' is Evelyn Smythe, Six's companion from the Big Finish audios (yes, them again). She's a history professor who keeps him in his place.

I have to say now that I started with this one, I am slightly addicted to writing ten-yr-old David Doctor & co. They all went ghosthunting over the weekend...
