I thought it was about time one of these sort of recs/resources post was DW themed, but it's much easier to do smaller things, so when I do it'll be by character or era. And I don't seem to be prepared for that (after all, I only have 180 DW fics bookmarked *rolls eyes*), so it'll be another obscure thing next. But in the meantime, Leela fanvids and fic recs to showcase the awesomeness of the Doctor's favourite savage under the cut:


Fanvids

Compared to most Classic Who companions and even Doctors, there are a few Leela vids...

These two fanvids include clips from all Leela's eps, including her last, for any spoilerphobes out there, although there's not really anything to worry about - no actual clips and lines - the first is chronological, so more spoilerish than the second.

Sadly, a lot of TheBigBlueBox's Saga of the Companions tributes have been removed, but happily, in this case the Leela one survives:

This one is really fun with some excellent bits of editing. (If you can watch the 'in the palm of her hand is a blister' line without a LOL, you are probably unversed in anything Leela-wise.)

And, this one, includes includes some Leela lines ("Don't worry, Doctor - I shall protect you.") but starts with her very last, so be warned:

Plus, a clip of Leela meeting D84 and being generally awesome in Robots of Death (Yeah, I know - I love Robots of Death, sorry. If you're a newbie it's from Ep1, so not spoilerish - more like a teaser!)

Looking at the universe from the bottom of a well by netgirl_y2k - In a missing scene, between Face of Evil and Robots, the Doctor introduces Leela to the TARDIS.

The Something or Other of Doom by Magnus Greel. The Doctor and Leela in trouble, in a short, humorous piece that has a great Leela voice.

A Game of Chess by atraphoenix Lovely short character piece with the Doctor teaching Leela chess.

Running All the Time by Sigyn
Slightly longer fic with a lovely look at both Leela and Four, and their relationship, their differences and similarities.


Entirely irrelevant: you know it's cold when you have to scrape the ice off the inside of your car...

Between recently seeing 'Image of the Fendahl' and hearing the Short Trips story 'The Death Dealers', Leela is rapidly becoming one of my favourite Classic Who Companions. Long may Louise Jameson keep getting work! :)

Yeah, Leela is great - and I particularly like both Image of the Fnedahl and Robots of Death, although lots of her others, too, of course. :-)
