It occurred to me part-way through this that while I had excluded Doctor Who (so that it didn't take up all but one of the 30 days) - and DW for me always includes the main lines of audios and novels, as they were each intended as genuine continuations when they started - that there were two DW spin-offs, that would never get a look-in if I had the whole of the show to play with, so...
Day Thirteen: Rani Chandra (Anjli Mohindra)

"I hope the Queen will judge me on my own character just as she might judge you on yours."
I won't say very much here, because I am so sadly behind with The Sarah Jane Adventures (I don't like watching stuff on my pc much; it's a thing, okay...) but replacing original characters is always a tough thing - it doesn't always come off, but Rani's enthusiastic, intelligent, compassionate, and brave (and reminds me very much of a rl teenage girl I know). She wants to be like Sarah Jane when she grows up, and she probably will indeed be every bit as awesome. (And her family could probably carry a spin-off show of their own, too.)
Luke: I'm growing up so I start having nightmares. [sarcastically] Great!
Rani: Yep, and the rest of us get spots. I wouldn't worry about it.
Fanid "The New Girl in Town" (no spoilers):
(If you want something a little less bouncy, try this one instead, which is also Rani/Clyde: Rani Might.)
Plus, I played around with the above pic to make these (one is just a base):

Date: 19 Feb 2011 03:22 pm (UTC)The fact that a bunch of people slagged Rani off before even seeing her in action, just as they did Martha, probably just intensified my love for her!

Date: 19 Feb 2011 04:59 pm (UTC)I rescued the base from my recycle bin for you:
The pic I took them from was literally just the one above, which I found searching via Google images.

Date: 19 Feb 2011 05:02 pm (UTC)When she first showed up I wasn't very impressed. I was still sore over losing Maria (and Maria's dad who I really rather wanted to hook up with Sarah-Jane). But Rani has outed to the point where now I can hardly imagine the team without her.
And her parents are the most awesome thing every.
And Rani/Clyde is adorable.
And Rani is just great in her own right.
(I've just yoinked the icons by the way to add to my giant collection of icon pretties. Heh.)

Date: 19 Feb 2011 05:55 pm (UTC)I was sad to lose Maria (Clocket - you do realise Alan must have been nearly 30 years younger than SJ!!!? 8-o ) but I liked Rani at once, and since I have come to be all Maria Who? Oh, yes... sorry... watching Rani!
Thanks. :-)

Date: 20 Feb 2011 09:10 am (UTC)And Sarah Jane certainly doesn't look her age... I don't think she can say a thing about non-aging Sixties teachers. I think she may be non-aging herself.

Date: 21 Feb 2011 08:28 pm (UTC)I'm happy for her, but I have to wonder if they would have given her the spin-off if she happened to look her age.
