thisbluespiritAnother female for the meme; I don't think this will surprise anyone who's been hanging around here much lately:
Day Fourteen: Donna Moss (Janel Moloney)
Josh: "Donna, this is a campaign for the presidency and there's nothing I take more seriously than that. This can't be a place for people to come to find their confidence and start over."
Donna: "Why not?"
Josh: "I'm sorry?"
Donna: "Why can't it be those things?"
I'm only planning to choose one West Wing character (at the moment), and that isn't because CJ and nearly everyone else isn't also very awesome: they are (especially CJ, and Mrs Landingham), but just as a measure of how awesome Donna is, because pretty much all the other characters, by the nature of their job, are brilliant high-flyers. Donna is the drop-out who shouldn't be in the White House at all, but who does indeed prove to be good at her job, provides the much needed ground-view of things, and winds up in a position where she could deservedly do almost anything she wanted. And she's also crazy and tenacious and caring in her own special way.
Slight quote-fest follows (Because it's the West Wing!):
Donna : How'd it go?
Josh : How do you know to be standing here?
Donna : I see you at the window.
Josh : You don't have a window.
Donna : You have a window.
Josh : What are you doing in my office when I'm not there?
Donna : Looking for you at the window.
Donna : "I'm telling your mother you forgot where she lives!"
Josh : "You're the girl I made fun of in elementary school, you know that?"
Donna : "Yes, I do."
President Bartlet (on Josh and Toby): "Three hundred IQ points between them, they can't find their way home. I swear to God, if Donna wasn't there, they'd have to buy a house."
CJ: "If he was giving you every opportunity, you'd have grown out of this job three years ago. Can't blame him, he's never going to find anyone as capable as you. I wouldn't give you up either."
Donna: "It's the White House."
CJ: "It's not the White House. It's him."
