Some nice things:

1. I have been catching up with some Big Finish, and have been listening to some more Eight and Lucie (I wish they weren't so much shorter - it makes them terribly more-ish!). I got to The Zygon Who Fell to Earth and was interested to see it had Steven Pacey in (who is, of course, Tarrant in Blake's 7). I wondered what he'd sound like now (and, yes, I KNOW he's in a Spooks episode, but I haven't seen that one since I've seen B7) and he was puuting on a West Country accent, drat him. And then being a Zygon. And then singing.

So, um, now the story is The One With Tarrant the Singing West Country Zygon. And to check it was him singing, I looked him up, and I hadn't realised he'd also been a bit of a West End star (apparently he got an Olivier award for playing Bertie Wooster in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's By Jeeves. Now I am all intrigued. Are there any clips of this?). I'm not usually one for bothering about rl actor details for characters, but there really ought to be some sort of cracky B7 fic in that, probably with Vila trying to make money out of it. (And then I also thought that B7 would work really well as an AU in which 'B7' was a pop group, with rivalry and people going solo, and rival bands funded by an evil corporation. It would explain the outfits. And I may have been delirious, yes. Sorry.)

... And I will be back another time with further delirium, as I see it is time for lunch now. :-)

Cool! I am so far behind on all BF's main ranges, I don't think I will ever get to any of the spin-offs, but Gallifrey always sounds fun.

(I have actually been listening to something else, which will be my next post, cos oh my, I managed to get my hands on Pt 5 of Kaldor City! :-D And you know my insane love of Blake's 7, The Robots of Death and Image of the Fendahl...)

That's a shame - Gallifrey is really good fun - and Season 4 is absolutely fascinating (features some of the main DW actors, but in different roles).

I tried the first Kaldor City audio and couldn't get on with it. Glad to know you're enjoying them. Have you tried times_champion on eBay? He often has them for sale (new not second hand).

Well, you never know. One day they might stop, and I'll finally catch up with everything! ;-)

I have only Pt 5, which is the last one (I didn't realise that until it arrived, and I couldn't quite manage not to listen. The basic gist made sense to me, anyway). Mind, I don't know how the first starts, but it helps a lot with the one I listened to if you know Robots and Image well, and have watched B7 recently, and have read the PDA Corpse marker a couple of times - all of which I have!

Not that I wish that, and at least I am doing way better than I used to be. But I think it's the only way I'd ever get up to date! :-/

As far as I can gather, the Fendahl are manipulating everyone in it, using what people believe is Taren Capel's skull. It follows on directly from stuff in Corpse Marker (The Church of Taren Capel, political rivalry between Uvanov and Landerchild), and includes Scott Frederick's psycho-strategist, Carnell, from B7 S2 (who is also in the novel!). Also Paul Darrow's character may or may not be a post-Blake Avon under a different name. Beyond that, I just accepted the Kaldor City/B7 thing that everyone is being sneaky and I seemed to be able to get by.

I suspect the plot of this ep was easier to follow because it had reached the point where it was just EVERYONE IS TOO BUSY BEING SNEAKY AND HAVE NOT NOTICED THAT THE FENDAHL IS RETURNING AND WILL KILL THEM ALL AND THEN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE. Where is the Doctor when you need him?

I suspect I'd have got more out of Kaldor City had I watched B7 first.

Relistening to your favourites is important! I always have to come back to Chimes, Pirates, The One Doctor & Jubilee, and I have some of my more recent ones that will probably have to join them sometimes. :-)

B7 helps a bit, but it is more Image, Robots and Corpse Marker that it draws on (or at least pt 5 did!) - but it does have quite a B7 Murphy's Law/sneakyness to it. But I was just enjoying listening to David Collings, Paul Darrow, Nicholas Courtney, Peter Miles et al...

I am not sure about the existence of video (my guess is no, if only because historically, West End shows are a lot harder to film than Broadway ones), but there is a cast recording from that production (which I can probably procure if you'd like).

Heh. I am still not quite at the end of S2 with them, so I have a way to go yet, so that won't be a problem for a while - can't he take her with him to the main range? Hmph. I'd rather he could get Charley back if he rejoined the main range, because I am not happy at her ending. It was very unsatisfactory. (And I remember you prefer Lucie - I love them both! - but there is something about the combination of Paul and India's voices that I just adore, never mind anything else.)

And thanks! I shall have to investigate, but will let you know if it proves difficult! I suspect you're right about the video, and I don't know how long ago it was. There is a Steven Pacey fan website and they have pics, but no video clips.

Orac... um. Either the crazy manager/agent or the really random technical guy who blacks out the lights in the middle of a concert when he's miffed. Or bored.

ETA: Which I suppose would make Zen the laid-back, enigmatical driver. Who is later replaced by Slave, who is probably an East End criminal and ex. London cabby. Or something...

B7 is hard rock, not pop, just going by Avon's black leather, LOL. I remember that the American fans and fanzine producers, Leah Rosenthal and Ann Wortham, wrote and drew a whole series of wonderfully bizarre B7 tales (satirical, but not far off the mark in how they played with details already there), including Avon getting the chance to be a snarly, spiky, punky rock star. Great stuff. ;-)

LOL, well, yeah, Avon's plenty menacing, especially when he's trying to chuck you out of the shuttle to save weight and stuff like that, but glam rock stars probably shouldn't be. :D Although I can think of one or two instances...

I know! It's... Yeah, poor Vila! It's the stuff like that that sort of marks B7 out really.

To be a rockstar, he'd have to find a fanbase who were happy to be continually mocked/belittled/sneered at, I suppose. Although, some people might like that kind of thing, maybe.

Eight and Lucie!!

I sort of came into those audio in all the wrong order (I'm STILL not sure if I've listened to everything properly because I don't understand the arc all that well) but I just listen to the last one the other day... D:

But I'm eager for Eight to rejoin the main range and hope his companion is good. Eight's audios have always been my favourites.

And NICE THINGS!! YAY! You need more of those. :D

Heh, aside from starting with Storm Warning, Eight and Charley were rather like that for me - still haven't caught them all, as well. Eight and Lucie I have been working my way through chronologically. If nothing else, at least I don't have to decide which one to get next... :-) (I am not quite at the end of S2, though, yet.)

Well, Big Finish are good at companions, although I hope they don't just give him an old one, like they've been doing to people of late. And I do hope they finish off him and Charley properly one day. She thinks he's dead, and he thinks she went off in a huff. Is that the way to leave it? Hmph. ;-)

Oh, there are nice things. (What that Mr Curtis wrote last year is v true, I have to say. ;-D) There were meant to be at least four in this post, but I got a bit tired before I finished with 1. One day I may also learn to be concise. :-D
