UNIT: Unfinished

I've finally posted it. With not an awful lot of alterations. Not sure what that was all about...

Um, I just deleted this story...
I'd delete this post, but I will put it up again shortly. I'm really beginning to regret giving it that title now. I've lost confidence again. Experience tells me that this means there's still something that needs fixing.

Just wrote another Brigadier and Liz story. I very nearly posted it yesterday, but swiped it off Teaspoon just in time, realising that (ironically) it wasn't finished. So you must particularly appreciate the ending, as it wasn't there the first time round, along with one or two other tweaks.
Anyway, an attempt to tie up all my loose ends. UNIT are having a dull week until Liz phones the Brigadier and asks to see him. Of course, after that everyone starts causing trouble in the way that only UNIT regulars can.
UNIT:Unfinished
(Brig/Liz, All Ages)

And a note about vegetables:
This is what happens to Yates and Benton (before I end up writing the thing).
Mrs Harris claims to have seen aliens in Mr Evans's field, but it was in fact his prize vegetables, which one of the local lads took and lined up in the field with faces carved on them etc. This is proved fairly quickly, but as Evans has only three remaining potential entries for the village show after that little spot of mischief and sabotage, he's set on guarding them. So when they approach the greenhouse, Yates falls into Evans's trap. Which involves a lot of manure.
Benton phones the Brig at this point, but then has to sort out the rest of it, carting said maltreated and oversized vegetables off to the village show, where Mrs Harris is helping to set things up, so that she can confirm this was what she sighted. However, as Mrs Harris is with the WI, he ends up helping get everything ready and being plied with tea, cakes etc. and will be forever remembered by them as that nice young Sergeant. (So helpful...)
In the meantime, Yates goes back to the UNIT vehicles, only to narrowly avoid being shot by Private Briggs, who thinks he's an alien. He goes off to find somewhere he can get cleaned up. Benton arrives back at UNIT eager to tell everyone about this, only to find no one wants to listen.
I really can't plead sanity any more, can I?
