Carry On Fanvid

Okay, so I have been tiring myself out doing various things, one of which was this! I know most of you aren't interested in Carry On films, understandably, but anyway I didn't think I could manage this before I started (I collected the clips in a sort of spirit of mild hopefulness and lack of anything better to do), but I did!

A Girl Like You - fanvid for the women of the Carry On films:

If anyone has 3.55 mins of their life to spare, it's just a bit of fun and montage of Carry on women and although I know it could have been much better, I'm pleased with it. I'm sorry about all the comic violence in the middle. I should have chosen a different song, but... it just fitted. (And because Joan Sims manhandling Leslie Phillips will never cease to amuse me. :lol:)

But I did gratuitously include Jacqueline Pearce, Wanda Ventham, Sheila Hancock and Wendy Richard, so there's something fannish to look out for. In addition to totally non-gratuitous Joan Sims, Angela Douglas (DW), Shirley Eaton (James Bond) and Joan Hickson (aka the Miss Marple).

Naturally there's a fair bit of Kenneth Williams, Sid James and Kenneth Connor et al. And I think I should probably do something else with the clips while I have them. Once I've recovered from this.

I solved my uploading problems by bargain-hunting for an old version of a better program and it converted to .wmv which meant it took only an hour. Also the audio quality is definitely better. However, exporting it to that took 1 hr 40 mins. (I tried it before I'd finished tweaking and once it took that long, I decided I had finished tweaking - I won't make that mistake again.) The actual fanvidding is relatively simple, like cropping images... it's everything else that isn't. Heh.

That was great. I don't really know the carry on films but so much of it is familiar just from years ago and catching bits and pieces. They did have a great cast of women.

I especially loved the end, with all the kissing and the smiling, it went perfectly with the music. And it was a great choice of music, too, even for the comedy viloence section:)

Aw, thank you! I was determined to do it, because my searches have never been able to bring up a Carry On tribute, so I thought there ought to be one! And, yes. The director and producer wouldn't have anyone who wasn't absolutely professional, partly because they made them at such a speed! And, yes, they are forever on the TV...

The song wasn't one I had thought of, but I spotted it on a CD and then it wouldn't go away, but I think it does work. I was just worried it was a bit more negative in some ways.

And thanks, because I remember seeing the fanvid you made a while back and it was brilliant!! (I can't remember if I commented then; it might have been a bad day. But it was v good, so nice feedback from you is extra nice, if that makes sense.)

Oh, I enjoyed that!! I love Joan Sims (and yes, Hattie Jacques and quite a few of the others) - for all their faults, the Carry On movies I recall, no matter how silly and sometimes cheesy they got you couldn't help liking the characters - the acting was just that good :)

Thanks! I'm so glad some people who aren't me did! :-) And, yes, my original idea was actually to do a Joan Sims tribute, but I thought the song might be a bit negative - but would just be fun if it was everyone. And, after all, everyone else was pretty great, too, especially people like Hattie, and tiny, mad Esma Cannon, and Patsy Rowlands. And, really everyone...

I always liked them, as I used to watch them with my Dad, but I did a media studies project on them as a teen, which got me interested in them in lots of ways. And they made them at such a speed (literally most scenes were done in one take), the producer and the director simply wouldn't have anyone who wasn't good, even in a small part and it does show - even through all the terrible old gags and stuff. But, anyway, a minor obsession of mine I try not to show too much. But I wanted a fanvid!! :lol:
